Or should they continue to be rejected from society?
Do they need one when their tribe got split back in Cataclysm? Those who stuck with Magatha are still villains and those that left with Jevan helped Baine kick Magatha’s crew out of Thunder Bluff.
Why not at this point.
Everyone gets a redemption arc, no past villainy is too great.
Wasn’t Magatha a class hall follower in Legion?
Garrosh: hold muh Gorehowl.
They already had one. Jevan helped Baine reclaim Bloodhoof Village and Thunder Bluff then he swore allegiance to the Horde.
Absolutely. If space goats can be warlocks and, presumably in the near future, forsaken can be paladins, then lore literally doesn’t have to have any weight or meaning. Maybe it can be revealed it was “just the bad parts of their soul” and thus they weren’t REALLY the ones responsible. Maybe it can be revealed there was a super secret reason akin to a hidden threat so obscure that only they knew about it and thus their actions were for the actual good of azeroth and all of us and that WE are the actual bad guys.
Yanno, that happens an awful lot in this game… It’d be great if people could go, “Hey, so there’s this really scary thing we know about, and we think you should all know about it, too, so we can all put our heads together…”, instead of non-communicating and doing weird and upsetting things.
TBH I really would like the story to play on this some.
We are so quick to do murder and such on behalf of anyone that hands us some xp/coin. Lets have an expansion where the launch patch is the villain figuring this out.
They murdered Cairne.
No.
Wipe them out.
But Cairne was Horde. Your eternal(ish…since you are a void elf) enemy.
Yes, but she made it abundantly clear she wasn’t there because she turned over a new leaf. She just wanted to get the Doomstone from us so that she could take over Kalimdor when the Legion was no longer a threat.
I think having bad guy Tauren is fun. I think it’d be awesome to have Magatha leave the Horde and have the Grimtotem join the Alliance, but only pretend to be redeemed and be up to shenanigans behind the scenes to give the Alliance some much-needed moral ambiguity and give the Alliance more race diversity.
The problem with the idea though is that Magatha is a, very vocal, Tauren supremacist who thinks Kalimdor belongs to the Tauren alone and wants to “cleanse” the continent of non-Tauren peoples, including the Night Elves and Draenei. That’s the entire purpose of her trying to steal the Doomstone from the Shaman Order Hall. Don’t think Tyrande and Velen would approve of them being admitted to the Alliance.
The Tauren are okay.
They helped at the World Tree.
They also helped the Horde commit all those atrocities.
Granted, it makes sense that the Alliance would like the Tauren. A faction they have killed at will, but with a leader that forbids them from retaliating.
Anything can happen storywise with a little elbow grease!
Anduin returns, Magatha sets up a private meeting and bends his ear and feeds him lies about how she’s all full of good intentions now, but isn’t welcome in her people’s homeland due to discrimination. Maybe she laces it with a little bad-Shaman magic. She butters up Velen about the Light and talks about the Orcs’ destruction of nature with Tyrande, who may not be completely up to date and in-the-know on Tauren politics.
Yeah, we the players would see the /wiiiiiiink to the camera and know what’s up, but that doesn’t mean that the characters in the narrative would, if it was well-done. The Alliance deserves a scenery-chewing villain for a change, and bad guys that are manipulative rather than just “RAAAGH EVIL” or “I’m doing bad for the greater good” are a lot of fun.
Wasn’t Kuerig a Grimtotem?
Thats a coffee maker
Ugh, no, just leave that whole narrative behind and work on better stories, please. lol
