Should secondary professions be account bound?

Cooking, fishing, archaeology, and possibly gathering professions should be account-bound. The first three are essential because every class and character needs to engage with them at some point. Making these professions account-bound would ensure that all characters on an account benefit from the same progress and resources, streamlining the gameplay experience and reducing redundant effort.

What do you think?

None of the professions are essential, you don’t have to touch any of them. Especially Archaeology - I don’t know how anyone could think that was necessary. Most of my toons haven’t bothered to train it, and even on my main after the first couple expansions & the novelty had worn off I did just enough to keep it leveled up until Legion where I finally just stopped altogether. Since Blizzard stopped doing anything with it after BfA I guess they decided it was useless too.

Mostly I just think it’s sad that people seem to want to reduce their entire account down to a single character that they just put racial & class skins on. Feel like playing an orc warrior today? Or a mechagnome priest? Whatever, they’re all the same character with exactly the same skills, talents, abilities, and professions, and only cosmetic differences.

I think most everyone who uses flasks, potions, enchantments, spellthreads and gemstones for higher-end content such as M+ and Normal/Heroic/Mythic Raids would disagree.

…Honestly, I wish they’d go the way of Guild Wars 2 – All professions can be learned by a single character, but they can only actively use 2 at a time, with a small fee (10 copper per point, max of 50 silver at 500 points, which is roughly equal to 275-300 of WoW’s gold) to change learned professions based on the amount of skill in the profession.

All recipes learned are account wide, but so are crafting cooldowns, so you wouldn’t be able to, say, stack up 50 tailors to produce infinite dawn/duskweave.

It’d certainly make those crafting cooldowns a lot more valuable…

The weaverline enchant is across warband judging by the description. Have to get it crafted on each toons but the progress on improving it is shared. So there you go.
