A tryhard threat capped DPS from my guild has suggested that the rejuvenating gem, a BiS healing trinket by far, should be loot counciled to the main fury prot tank, for diamond flask snapshotting, since the flask self-healing is significant and contributes to the tank’s threat.
While our healers were adamant against it, and I do not expect the loot council would dare doing such a thing, I am interested in what is your opinion on the matter.
Is the META to prio rejuv gem to the tanks?
Do hardcore guilds do so? Do they do so with other BiS healing pieces?
Your MT shouldn’t be dying at this point, especially if it’s a “hardcore” guild. They should be plenty geared, and have world buffs. They need threat gear foremost.
The self-healing from the flask causes threat. The idea is that it increases threat generation compared to the alternative trinkets available to warriors.
That’s what the idea is. Diamond flask health regen scales with +healing. So if you stack a ton of healing gear, pop your flask, and then swap into threat gear and jump into a fight you’ll get extra threat from self healing.
I am not trolling. Healers getting more gear in BWL would not speed-up clear times at all, since healing throughput is already more than adequate. Increased threat generation would. It makes sense, from the pure efficiency point of view, to give +healing items to the tanks first. I am not saying this practise should be implemented. But I argue it is the optimal one. And since it is optimal, I am interested if some guilds have implemented it.
If you think this is not an optimal strategy from the efficiency point of view, I’d appreciate counter-arguments over screaming “troll”. That does not contribute to the discussion and is trolling itself.
Theoretically, this could work in fights that last one minute (assuming the threat generation is INSANE), otherwise this will fail because you lose mitigation AND general throughput of threat. By wearing healing gear you sacrifice Hit, Crit, AP, and Stamina, of which there’s also not a lot of strong plate healing gear available to warriors right now anyway.
So, while the healing might draw threat on its own, and keep the tank alive, the likelihood that this outweighs the overwhelming threat loss from losing all of the other crucial stats, particularly to a Fury/Prot setup, is very low.
You could just wear Diamond Flask and BT crit the boss for 2400+ while tanking, which is going to be a lot more threat than your Diamond Flask with heals while you whiff attacks, lose Flurry uptime, and drop your rage throughput from lack of stats.
TL;DR: Meme strat that’s not going to be more realistic than gearing your healers.
When you use your flask the buff stays even after taking healing gear off. Item rack allows instant get swaps so for vael and other threat fights it would work.
For such an “old, easy game”, there sure is a lot of cheesing & exploiting of mechanics going on to get ahead. Gotta love try-hard face-rollers I guess.
I mean, if your guild is willing to throw Rejuv Gem at your tanks before all of your healers have it (lol), go ahead. We’ve only gotten a few, so we’re like 7+ Gems from this happening.
Even then, the best option would be having it on our GM Warriors, rather than our actual MT, since they have more gear for such a thing.
Again. 100% this never happened, OP is just posting for the memes. But… if a tank REALLY REALLY wanted a healing trinket, briar reed is about as good for this kind of thing and ZHC that drops every 3 days (or any on-use trinket) is actually much much better.
