I never played in vanilla wow, but I think this will help to avoid some possible ninjas trying to steal crafting plans maybe? Just trying to get some thoughts from experienced players.
No this is not needed. #nochanges
It wasn’t in Vanilla and this is an inauthentic unnecessary QoL change to a fully functional profession system. Since Vanilla was released Blizzard has had a policy of no profession trade scamming. Open a ticket in a timely manner and get your mats back.
As long as they enforce it, and dont give it the same treatment as Loot Trading.
I we’re ever given the honor of a full Q&A, this would be a good question though. Not necessarily about the profession linking per se, but about getting actual GM support if scammed.
The OP was referring to people needing in recipes, “plans”, not being scammed out of mats.
But no, it’s not needed. In Classic you’re accountable to the server community.
#nochanges
No. Social reputation will be big in the game.
Trade chat and word of mouth with be huge.
“I never played vanilla wow, but adding x thing from not vanilla to make the game easier” is going to come up with a resounding “no” almost every time.
This is not something that will make game easier I think. I understand #nochanges and totally agree with community aspect and reputation. I said I never played vanilla because it is the truth.
There’s been no indication that Blizzard intends to launch Classic without Customer Support.
Just for those curious. BFA already has a no GM item trading policy which is identical to what we’re getting with Classic. While I love bashing Activision-Blizzard this is an area of actual consistency. A partial quote below.

Can’t Trade Personal Loot
Article ID: 49504
If you have an item that doesn’t appear in the list above and you can’t trade it, submit a bug report. Customer Support is not able to make items tradeable or trade items between players.
They’ll probably go with whatever reduces the GM workload.

In Classic you’re accountable to the server community.
Yup, if you burn your rep by ninja looting just to sell on AH when someone in the group could actually use it, that’s on them.
I have seen some instances where someone may have accidentally acquired an item and then traded it to the person who needed, so no harm no foul.
Same things goes with raid leader rep, as unfortunately you may see a few that change loot settings around (to ninja loot everything) or change their mind on rules towards the end of a raid.
I remember our guild and community black listing a few “would be raid leaders” because of stupid stuff like this.
We even were able to update the community when they tried to do a name change and we found out. Never understood why some players do this, but then I realize it is likely how they act IRL too… very sad.
So you want them to do additional work to take a functionality out of the game that can be replicated with an addon and only makes selling professions cleaner and less scamable…
Pretty sure this would be similar to the mailbox UI, so they prob are gonna leave it in.
Also blacklists and server rep was really ineffective in vanilla why would you want to rely on that system?
It took very little effort to change your name back in vanilla.
Players are already doing this with addons. That’s actually why I googled linking professions in Classic WoW to see what addons to install. Can anyone suggest which addon(s) do this?
Yes. And we should be able to post links in /1.
