Should I reroll from ALC/ENCH?

Hello!
I have been playing since the start of the expansion and have chosen alchemy and enchanting in the hopes of selling flasks, pots and enchants on the AH. Currently, none of these items are profitable (besides utilizing concentration), even when calculating max KP and profession equipment.

I was thinking of rerolling into Tailoring/JC/Inscription to craft items for players. What do you guys think is the best approach?

Well tailoring and inscription have more interaction with others in my opinion. Perk of alch and ench is that you can dump your products on the AH. JC can do that too, but you will come to despise gem dust! That reagent is a huge gold pit to my jc atm. It all comes down to filling the wheels and being patient.

The current system really punishes you for rerolling professions. You lose all of your knowledge, the profession gear, and not to mention leveling to 100 again. But I partly agree with you. Concentration really messes with higher yield professions like alchemy.

All my characters are alchemists because I raid to varying degrees on them. I really messed up my points though and wish I could re-do those. I only have enchanting on this shaman (I dropped it for engineering on rogue) and it’s mostly to help clear my bags and craft crests for self and guildies.

The profession I’ve needed the most from others is Leatherworking because I have 2 leather wearers and 2 mail wearers and often LWs focus on one or the other so different people craft the mail and leather. Additionally I run m+ in guild groups which aren’t optimized so we need drums a lot.

The other high demand items from professions are ironically profession items, the blue ones you need crafting orders for. These aren’t necessarily made by your own profession so you have to seek out from others.

Consumables and other goods found on the AH are usually cheaper to buy than make unless you spec in a lot of resourcefulness and/or multicraft.

Gathering is the way to go to make money, otherwise choose professions that benefit your play style (eg increased flask duration, ability to disenchant unwanted items, not sure what else since even non-engineers can use new combat res item that is purchasable on AH) or seem fun to you. I think engineering was fun to level but I know people who hate it in TWW.

Thank you all for the replies! I want to give a quick update.

I have a druid dedicated to farming and herbing and the tools/profession equipment for herbing is maxed. Additionally, I am maxed out on skill points for both. I yield around 20-25k per hour.

As for my character with Ench/Alch, I decided to reroll into JC and Tailoring. They both took around 100k each to max, but I am able to hit all characters with the Cloak and Neck/Rings. Additionally, I leveled inscription on another character who can make the bounding baton. That one took around 60k to max (I haven’t gotten the tools/equipment yet.)

All in all, I think it was a good decision. Each craft I do nets me around 3k gold in “tips” and the highest tip I received so far is 10k. I haven’t calculated an hourly earning just yet, but it far surpasses what I was making with ench/alch and farming mats imo.

Just my personal experience

Edit: Having resourcefulness enchant and missive on tools for both JC and Tailoring gives me a 25% chance to keep mats. When people are using r3 mats to craft, that is an extra 300-800 gold on top of the tip! (I haven’t gotten down the tree for tailoring for extra resource yet, so it can be even more for tailoring.)

Not really worth it. You’re going to lose all those KP’s. Ench and Alch are 2 of the most useful profs in the game imo. I don’t see what you gain by rerolling right now.
