Should I put WoW in my LinkedIn?

Fixing up my LinkedIn to see if I can find a job in my field. Should I add I’m a team player because I do m+ in WoW? Also, I can throw bifactional in there so people know I don’t start fights.

Try it and see how it goes.

I read an article about how younger people approach their career fields these days. It’s vastly different from when I was job hunting.

No offense but if I saw that someone put WoW on their linked in or resume I would immediately reject them. It is not personal to you at all.

If you think it would help, go for it.

(So would I but I’d at least get a good laugh out of it seeing it on someones resume!)

I’m not taking any chances since I’m tired of my food service job

Although, I remember someone writing a very professional-sounding summary of being a raid leader. Maybe it worked for them.

To clarify, it’s fine to mention that you enjoy video games (specifically that you work with others in your free time) in an interview, and potentially use it as part of a response to a question about teamwork/commitment. But it should never be on a resume.

Please include your m+ score and spec. Upon further research, if the bulk of your score is from anything that qualifies as “free keys” during “easy weeks”/“push weeks” we will not be in touch.

M+ probably not, but I can totally see how, say, experience in conflict mitigation as a successful guild master could help in some people oriented field. And I wouldn’t mention WoW right away, just put as “massively multiplayer online role-playing game”. I feel like massively multiplayer brings gravitas. But again depends on the company, and definitely not something to put on the first page. But I could see how it could be a conversation starter in the right circumstances.

Never mention that you’re good at a game. However it could be good to talk about how you got much better at a game thanks to the help of others (who you should mention/praise but do not name (especially if their names are inappropriate)) because it will make you seem coachable and positive.

I remember someone applied for a job at my old company and listed “reddit moderator” as a personal achievement.

You should add it. Don’t listen to the BOOMERS here. Make sure you also put you never leave m+ groups, that will help

If you’re gonna put something WoW related on there you should mention you run a large guild and your responsibilities involve getting people werking together in groups. Dealing with and resolving disputes. Add in some more stuff that shows how running a guild is in a way how a business can be run. Something like that.

I used leading a raid to victory as an example of team skills in a job interview.
I was able to get the job.

If only relevant to the actual job apying for.
Otherwise I would leave it out.

Yes, 100%.

65% of all Fortune 500 companies recognize “World of Warcraft Player” as an excellent job qualification.

I never would because I’m not.

Make sure you put Horde, ain’t nobody hiring Alliance.
