The class has always appealed to me, just kind of bothers me I wouldn’t be even “good” at any role.
It’s classic - there’s no world firsts anymore. It’s all been done, so no pressure - roll what you like, be junk, have fun.

Depends on whether you play for yourself or for what others think of you I guess … Druid is not ‘crap’ it just isn’t top of the DPS meters, who frickin’ cares if it’s FUN to play?

Druid can top the meters… if you’re not grouped with another healer, DPS, or tank. :-^)

Whether or not you’re good at a roll depends on you. There are good druids and bad druids. Good mages and bad mages.

Druids are definitely not junk. They can tank most bosses in all of vanilla and are even preferred for some fights. They are great off tanks. They have some of the best utility in the game with battle rez and innervate. Cat dps is no joke when done right (especially since you can power shift with only 1 gcd since its the 8.x client). Imagine a rogue with infinite thistle teas… And in pvp you can 1v1 better than most other classes and even pull off 1v2 and 1v3. Plus we are the most mobile class in the game. Ill race anybody anywhere! Haha

I think Feral is still pretty good, just needs skill, for PvP that is.
play what you find fun. don’t take what others say into what sways you if that’s what you want to do.

Druid is supremely undervalued in classic. In reality, Druid is one of the best levelers, is overall solid in PvP, and has 3 raid competitive roles at end game. To put this into perspective, they have the most competitive raid roles out of any class. They can capably heal, tank, or DPS with the proper understanding of the mechanics.
While a Druid won’t dominate a position, they can compete in it while providing valuable raid wide utility.

World firsts never matter to most people it’s only .0001% who are even in contention for this. Heck in retail if you’re not grinding it out on ptr before it comes out you have no chance at all.
Roll whatever you want OP you’ll at least be able to go into 40 man’s and hey in fighters playing “bad” characters is considered cool maybe we should adopt that mentality.
Thinking a druid is junk by any measure is silly, but you personally probably shouldn’t roll one. Maybe roll a min-max class and download the latest version of Details! so you can chase those leet dps numbers. Ignore every other valid contribution classes can make to the game.

Yeah, you’ll need to ignore most of the morons out there… non-resto druids and non-holy paladins all had their place back in the day. Most of the guild guilds/groups out there recognized how useful it was to have utility in the raid. Sometimes you need more tanks, other times you need more heals. Being able to switch back over to a DPS in a heartbeat is just great… especially with the flexibility of Classic’s talent trees!
I’m trying to decide between a Druid, hunter or shaman myself. I guess Druid and Shaman would be more similar since they’re both hybrids but I love ranged dps too

Despite popular opinion, druids can main tank all but two raid bosses in classic just as well as warriors and are better/easier than warriors for all of MC and most of Naxx. They can also be in top 10 dps as cat, but only on Alliance (due to not being able to benefit from windfury totem on Horde-side.). You just need to farm Manual Crowd Pummelers out of Gnomer for either role (and put in effort.)
Of course, the real struggle is convincing anyone to try you in those roles.
Play what you like. Everything is “viable” in this game, because the game is about the journey to 60 and the random circumstances you find yourself in along the way.

Just use the knowledge you’ve gained playing retail WoW and you should do alright with almost any class and spec.
I think the pserver guilds have shown how easy the raids are, well MC and Onyxia at least, in Classic compared to retail. Guilds might not have to go with cookie cutter comps that exclude weird specs anymore.
So I’ve been a feral Druid for the majority of my vanilla career. I’ve tanked everything except half of nax, and never aq40 (low pop server didn’t get to much).
You just need to be really really good at tanking.
Otherwise, i also had an epic time in bgs. Druids are amazing utility in BG’s. Wsg flags and av tanking is great. And i also personally enjoy AB in any class.
My suggestion however is that it’s brutal to level. You will want to feed it some greens until at least level 24.
