Should I just go holy from disc?

feels like people are falling like flies in normal dungeons, it doesnt do enough healing

If you feel that way, yes. I’m having absolutely no problem healing m0s as disc.

I’d honestly argue the opposite and say Holy is under-tuned compared to Disc. The raid build you run atm is very similar to what you can/will be running in M+.

And in Raid they are barely holding their own right now despite all of their raid CD’s and Halos hitting 30 targets with no fall-off. Holy is severely under-tuned. I vastly prefer Disc in keys atm.

Interesting, so I should probably pick Disc for Mythics?

Ive only really healed as Holy. Disc seems pretty cool and Im open to giving it a try.

Tonight I’ve ran a few mythic 0s and if the tank wasnt good, I felt like I couldnt catch a break. I had to sit there spamming FlashHeal/Heal just to keep a tank alive. I copied some Priest build, and once I changed talents around to incorporate Divine Hymn it definitely helped out to keep the party up.

AutomaticJak is a great resource for priest healing content. He does almost every healer, but he mains priest.

Holy is looking pretty good for m0 (personally I love Oracle, it feels really strong with Holy.) If your tank was dying through spamming heals, it’s more likely they weren’t mitigating properly. Probably not your fault.

Disc is fun, but its healing profile is very feast or famine. When we have our pet up, we’re doing incredible healing output, but as soon as it’s down our healing is sub par. It’s manageable, but you can definitely feel it.

Holy and disc are going to be fine for most m+ content. There’s a conversation worth having about the highest end of content, but for most, any healing spec will do.

Holy is fine in mythic’s if youre running the lightweaving build. That does fairly well and i have no issues. With that being said, i did struggle a little in mythic 0s as disc in Mist. I was 589 at the time. Havent healed another since but i felt it would be easier once i got more gear. Play what you like and master it.

As others have said, either is fine.

They’ll both be able to take you to any content except for VERY high key (like shooting for title) - but it’s likely neither will take you there without a lot of networking and premade groups. The M+ community starts to gatekeep specs to whatever is the very top meta specs before that point.

I’ve been playing both specs with both hero talents each and they all work well enough. For Holy, Lightweaver is pretty much going to be necessary the higher you climb ATM in all content, so make sure you like playing that. Archon and Oracle are both decently strong. I have a feeling Oracle will ultimately be the better of the two in dungeon content, but Archon will pretty easily keep up through most of it. Basically Archon is the easy healer - you hit Halo then use the surge of light procs to get free lightweavers. Oracle is a bit more complicated, and you’re using insight to bounce PoMs around, and piety to cleave overhealing off of yourself to your group.

For Disc, Voidweaver does a lot of healing in short bursts. Every time your mindbender and mind blast are up you’ll feel like the group is near invincible. When it’s down, you’ll feel like you’re barely healing. Oracle is stronger than I think most people give credit - it can handle a lot of situations with Piety and Insight - but premonition of Solace feels like your weak point that you’ll want to use ASAP to move to the next prem. That said it’s a lot more complicated to play. You need to be ready or you’ll fall behind because a lot of Oracle is pre-shielding damage.

I absolutely walked through m0’s with a under geared team. And normal (we didn’t look up mechanics and learned them as we died to them). Disc feels very strong right now in both forms of content IMO and also in pvp.

Disc only works if u are properlly attacking/Dpsing… Disc can get a little frustrating when you aren’t able to Dps to heal at times due to lack of interrupts or having to move and stop casting.

Otherwise Renews and Flash healing alone isnt going to do the trick, Your Dots, Smites and Penance Plays the biggest role in your Success with Disc.

If you have the haste, yes. There is nothing wrong with holy oracle though, it can really pump. You may have been utilizing the kit incorrectly.

Disc lately with the buffs it received, pumps like crazy. Its in the meta talks because its throughput is very good. Voidweaver is very strong both in the offensive and defensive. But disc has the downside of being a hard spec to pilot and playing from behind is not an option still, since you cannot recover. Holy is better on that part since it doesn’t care

Priests more so than other healers are more reliant on their teammates to fill in the gaps on interrupts and CC especially.

If you get a team that’s bad in those areas and AoE poisons and fears are going out unchecked you’re basically just screwed, lol - there’s a level of critical mistakes that becomes impossible to recover from, and disc is even worse at playing from behind in those spots.

Still, it’s always good to go back and look over what pack killed you and what you could have done differently.

If you are doing 0s any spec is completely viable, your team will need to stun and interrupt though. Big pulls are much harder than in DF. Holy is easier and more forgiving plus has limited CC through chastise. Disc is harder as you need to have an idea of incoming damage and prepare for it.

As a healer you are going to be more dependent on your team to preform well. Good players will make you feel like you are doing nothing, bad players will make it feel impossible. If you are doing 4-500k+ hps and doing mechanics but still having trouble it is most likely the team you are with more than you/your spec.

Its important that the ramps are well timed, yes. That said, 400-500k HPS isn’t going to be sufficient this week in keys. Even on some of the pulls in a 0 Grim Batol I was doing 1.2m to keep the party topped. 400-500k is going to be a struggle bus output.

Disc is capable of way more than 400-500k though.

Your overall is likely going to be in the 400-500k range unless your group is interrupting badly or being way too zealous with their pulls in M0s. Grim Batol’s kinda an exception once you hit the warlock hallway which is a total nightmare for all healers without proper stops, lol.

M1 isn’t that big a step up. Everyone’s likely to start struggling in the +4-5 range. When I was in tier/heroic ilvl in beta, +10s were challenging but not impossible.

I didn’t say it was only capable of that, I said its not going to cut it in keys you’ll likely want to be spamming this week. For more clarity, in the 8-10 range. If the average is that low, hps output is going to be a real issue for people whose expectation is to skate by on that given party members low vers and ilvl

I think you overestimate a lot of players

A huge portion of people aren’t going to make it past 3s let alone be spamming 8 on week one. I usually climb keys to the mid 3k range on whatever healer I’m maining and I still dunno if I’ll be spamming 10s this week. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yea, my only goal is to set myself up for KSM week 2 for the token. I don’t think mythic vault keys are where I will be week one this time.

Holy is unbelievably bad right now outside of Dungeons - If you’re only doing Dungeons then you should be fine as long as your team doesn’t stand in bad and kicks the right spells.

As for Raid - The only thing keeping us on the Meters is a Bugged Halo which will be fixed eventually.

Our AoE Healing is incredibly weak - Its slow and ineffective. You’re better off spamming Flash Heal because its faster and hits harder and has higher HPS.

I’m not sure if this changed during DF where I’ve heard holy was allowed to languish in bottom-tier throughput for much of the expansion, but glancing at the stats from the raid it’s striking the decline in hpriest popularity.

Especially at normal and heroic raiding levels it had often been the most popular spec (supposedly the most accessible), but now there are more paladins than hpriests, vastly more shamans than hpriests AND disc priests combined. The other specs are pretty neck and neck as well, even the once-rarer monks, evokers and (sometimes) druids.
