been thinkin about trying it out, but i read a CRAP-TON of articles about the anti-cheating being kernel level and that it could potentially be a security risk, and it got me too scared to try it… but, i’ve seen tons of folks playing it online, and it’s made me wanna give it a shot but… that anti-cheat though…
should i give that game a shot, or should i just wait for it to come-out on nintendo-switch?
You can give it a shot - I play the game regularly on PC and I’m not concerned with it.
The best thing to know about the game is that it supports cross-save between mobile and PC, and (unconfirmed) possibility for the Switch, due to the console’s history of cross-save support with games such as Fortnite, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and Minecraft. So if you start now and the Switch gets the cross-save support, you can pick up where you left off.
The Playstation doesn’t support cross-save because they lock-down accounts.
Anti-cheat really has to be non-usermode (eg kernel level) to be effective. Why? Because if it were user-level then a kernel level cheat could easily subvert or evade it.
Anti-cheat has privacy concerns, no doubt about it. I would recommend not doing anything really private while you have a game with anti-cheat on it open if you’re really paranoid about privacy.
Well implemented anti-cheat doesn’t have security concerns. To be honest running any software that punches a hole in your firewall to connect out to the internet introduces a slight risk. However as long as it isn’t something people can arbitrarily connect to (for example a minecraft server you’re hosting) there’s no reason to think third parties can do anything with a connection that’s private between you and the developer’s servers. One advantage of games is they typically have more resources for bug fixes and security fixes than normal software.

My daughter has been playing the game for about three months. She loves that game. She plays it on her Play Station. I’d downloaded it on my PC, but did not get into it at all. Sometimes, I do watch her play. Last Sunday, I did download A Plague Tale: Innocence. I was only able to play it for a few minutes. I’m hoping I have a chance to play it more this afternoon.
