Should i go Leatherworking or Tailoring

Should i make myself gear or its not worth it and i should level tailoring for making bags.

Professions other than gathering types tend to be more of a gold sink than helpful these days. I’d say just go gathering and let everybody else sink their gold into the mats they buy off the AH.

A gold sink? you are not serious are you? Well that is kind of disappointing although as far as i know bags sell for a lot of gold though.

Well tell ya what.

The thing is, gear wise and leveling speed means ya don’t really need to craft anything to level. There is SO MUCH competition for bags on the AH, you’re just a drop in the bucket. What ya want is gold, because that’s always useful.

So ya gotta think like a Goblin. Since you’re asking about which profession, then you’re a newbie at this. So read the following guide. Read it, understand it, breath it, sleep with it under ya pillow. It’ll get a newbie like you started on thinking like a goblin and getting some sweet sweet gold before you get into the more advanced stuff.

The bags are not for selling (well i could try) its for myself because of how crazy expensive the bags are in the Auction House and i don’t have the gold to buy them and resorting to token is kind of cheating for me.

Can you not afford netherweave bags? That bag is cheap as dirt these days, and 4 of those will get you through leveling easily.

bags are always nice and they do sell. Leatherworking is easier to lvl in bfa.

Yes netherweave bags are nice to have, but having even more space doesn’t hurt now does it?

It hurts your gold more than it’s worth right now. Ya don’t NEED the highest slot bags, the highest slot ones are just luxury items. Get what you need to function, learn about making gold in the meantime. I gave ya a tool to get started. After the money starts rolling in if you want to purchase the super high end bags, then you’ll be able to if that’s your “bag”.

when i came back to the game i decided to start fresh on a new server. I would level up the reputations of the cities so that i could buy the 16 slot bags as well as getting one from the Darkmoon faire. it was a looong while till i was able to get my Garrison up to speed to make Hexweave bags; and i didnt really get all of the mats i needed to level up my tailoring to make neatherweave quick enough.

but once i was able to get my hexweave production up…niiiicccceeee. Now working on a Leatherworker to make a mining 36 slot so as to not take up other space.

Here’s what I’d do if I were you, do with that as you will.
I would go herbalism and skinning or mining, then I would herb and skin/mine away while leveling and questing through bfa. I would sell all my gathered mats, use gold from that to buy bigger bags. Once I had gathered and gotten a bit of a gold stash I’d consider dropping one gathering prof for a crafting one if I wanted one. Being a mail wearer, I’d probably go leatherworking for transmog and for being able to make the bop gear at 120. I’d keep skimming and farm all the mats to lvl lw. Eventually I’d make a gather alt so my main could have 2x crafting.

When first starting out, 2x gathering profs will get you more gold than trying to lvl a crafting prof will.

I just checked the gear i can make at level 110-120 and i am laughing at how there is only one armor set (Shimmerscale) for level 111 in BFA and the rest are all level 120. Looks like i will gear only with endgame armor then.

IIRC, leather working has drums. Tailor has bags and a couple of flying carpets. Probably make money with both, although haven’t got a LW to the point of trying.

The gear… Sometimes you can make yourself something useful for a level or two.

I am a fan of double gather too.

Just gather away and AH everything.

Saves dealing with the pain of the crafting professions.

With regard to bags. You can level a tailor for bags, but to get patterns for the bigger bags you will be forced into playing old content to get the patterns. Through WoD for the Hexweave pattern and mats, and then you’ll have to do some puttering around in Legion to get whatever they have. (I gave up on all my crafters in Legion, so never bothered to do much on my Tailor in that expansion.)

Eventually I’ll play through BfA, but I’ll do it on a double gatherer and either AH or vend everything I come across while leveling.

Cheers!
