Should i get a curved monitor?

I never had a curved monitor before, are they any good? I normally only play wow retail/classic for games.

any advice or opinions on monitors in general would be helpful thanks!

The only way I think it fits in WOW is if you customize your UI and pull everything to the center.

Otherwise you’ll get neck strain looking to the corners.

I have one. Just a 27ā€ 1080p monitor and not an ultra wide. It is okay but really nothing special.

Not sure if I would buy an ultra-wide or stick with the three monitors I have now.

Not going to pooh-pooh the opinions of people who like curved monitors but I just don’t get them, personally. It limits the viewing distance, since the farther you are away the weirder it’s gonna look, like sitting back and using it to watch movies or TV. But if you have a TV for that, I guess it’s not a concern. Also seems to make a two+ monitor set up a bit wonkier. Personally, I just look for a flat monitor with a wide viewing angle. But yeah, your mileage may vary.

For gaming I personally dont think it’s worth it. I went super widescreen myself, but that has uses mainly outside gaming for me.

So I actually own a 34 inch curved ultrawide monitor and use it to play wow. It is awesome. The improvement to gameplay experience far exceeds any other piece of hardware I’ve ever gotten.

Someone mentioned ā€˜neck strain’. This is nonsense. Overall its easier on your eyes and neck because the stuff thats at the edges of the screen is closer to you than it would be on a flat screen. I get more use out of my entire monitor than I ever did before, and the curve feels much more natural for viewing. Please remember you can’t compare this to curved TVs - how far you are from a TV ruins everything.

I run a two monitor setup still and it works just fine. Eventually I’ll swap my second for a curve. I’ll throw up a picture when I get home in an hour.

Sure, Pics or no believe

Put your cat next to it for comparison!

My ā€˜cat’ wouldn’t fit onto the desk, but he agreed to pose for the picture.

I prefer the 3 monitor setup, I don’t even do extended; left is 4K for watching netflix, hulu, etc., middle is 1440p 165Hz for games, and right is 1080p for browsing.

I think they were a fad, and they seem to have more reflections on them than a flat one.

i have a 34" curved monitor and it is awesome!

The first few times i used it was… interesting.
The screen was… massive!! SOOO BIG!
The mouse cursor had to travel a much longer distance.
Also wasnt used to seeing such a big screen and had to turn my head sometimes.
But after a while, got used to it.
Now i cant live without it.
Looking at a small screen feels weird.

Highly recommend.

A monitor is one of the least replaced items.
It can last for a good 10 years.

If you use a good gaming mouse, you just tweak the settings for how fast it moves. I do separate X & Y settings since the screen is much wider (X) than tall (Y).

People forget about this. Lasts so long for the amount you spend on it, and going cheap on a monitor wastes your investment in your PC.

Curved TVs were a fad that is basically over. Curved monitors do extremely well. You don’t get any benefit from a curve even on a pretty large (~65") TV screen at normal viewing distances.

I have two. They are pretty nice once you get used to looking at them.

My old monitors were flat, so there is a short adjustment period. Now I don’t even notice they are curved.

I disagree. I don’t notice reflections anymore than on my old flat monitors.

I’ve got a flat immediately next to my curve. Need to go double curve like you. Sun comes into my office in the mornings so on weekends I get a literal side by side comparison. It’s basically identical.

For years I had a curved monitor. It was called a CRT. Then we went to flat screens and LCDs. It’s funny how things are going full circle in a sense.
