Should I enter Radiant Echoes at current low level or at 70 after boost

I’ve been watching my main’s other alts doing the Radiant Echoes to level themselves from 60 to 70 and gear up to 480 each or so.

One of the other alts noticed a level 63 hunter in her last encounter. That, the five pieces of plate gear that has dropped so far for them and the fact that my main never used the 70 boost got me me to thinking.

Can I even get into a RE encounter as a level 51 Havoc Death Knight? If I can, what are the pros and cons of (1) boosting to 70 first or (2) staying at my current level before entering a RE encounter?

What is my survivability at level 51 vs a boosted 70 (at which I assume I’ll get some compensatory blizzard gear; that is, are the encounters geared to level)?

Does it matter which I choose regarding the speed at which I may get gear?

Thanks in advance,

Did some beta and the daleran quest give you 454 gear so I think you will be fine

Sorry, “Frost” DK.

If you can post do that and if you can run heroics for flightstones spark frags and billums

When you reach the max amount of billums fo the week go to the vendor and get 493 gear and you are set if you are ok with that

I leveled my lock from 51 to 70 in about 2 hours during the event. At 70 I had enough currency to buy a full set of 480 gear. Don’t bother with a boost.

You can do the Radiant Echos events at level 10. The only real downside is the gear that drops for lower levels is scarce so you dont really gear up as you level. If you have scaling heirlooms that is your best option to not falling behind.

There are always high level characters to follow around as a lower level.

I’ve leveled 2 toons via echos.
They become available at level 10 and take about 2 hours to hit 70. Just try and do the boss fights or easy encounters.

Don’t pay for a boost.
This is the perfect time to level and try out alts.

Guy said he got a free one so that’s why I said do it

So yeah radiant echos is a fine way to level if you don’t want to use to your boost

Thanks all for your input.

Thanks, Kelliste. This is what I really wanted to know.

I took the 70 boost and ran a series of Radiant Echoes making sure to stick around after the final boss re-kill all the mini-bosses and re-kill the final boss again. With the Residual Memories I picked up + those the other alts had left over from their runs + the five plate gear they had picked up = I was able to completely gear up to 480 in a day.

Again, thanks all for your time and input.

Ultimately it comes down to what you want to do. Personally I would have pushed through the prepatch the heirlooms. But the rate at which you level is dependant on how many people are in the map. More people means more of the events completed which means a better use of your time.

I got 10 levels this morning in 1 map that was relatively empty. Most people do the first boss kill of the map and then move on. Playing during prime hours will see better results. That was at like 3am server time. It also looks like they upped the recruit drop rate but a lot of those drops weren’t in slots that were useful.
