Should I continue?

Should I continue the foot slog of leveling my level 18 warrior (second attempt) to 60?

Or should I level something easier like this hunter , a mage, etc?

I originally made this character to tank, but I’ve quickly found that tab sundering enemies really sucks when you miss… and makes for a very frustrating time tanking mobs 1-3 levels above you.

I love the way my warrior looks, the idea of it, I love PvP on past warriors… but honestly the leveling part even during quest blows compared to ranged classes. Wondering if it’s worth the trouble for something I like looking at haha

Depends on what you want to be doing endgame really. Warrior won’t get easier to level - it’ll only be harder once honor is released into the world and all low level characters become targets.

Mage isn’t my go-to class but I never played one before. Maybe try out a class you never tried before and see how you like it - that’s what I went with and I know I can always go back and level the things I like.

People say that it’s rewarding at 60. In my experience it absolutely is however only if you can effectively no life the game to stay ahead of the gear curve and are able to have pocket healers ready to go whenever you log on.

Personally i dont think they worth the time. Its easier to gear up a healer more than any other class and you will have a better time out in the world solo than you would on a warrior.

If you’re playing solo try and do the quests when they are green. if you’re 18 and in the barrens head over to silverpine and do the quests there. when the silverpine quests turn yellow head back to the barrens and do the green quests there.

you’ll find leveling a warrior a blast and you’ll have much less down time.

You know what to do.

Can I have your stuff?

I rolled a warrior a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty fun. The ‘charge’ lets you run up hills you’d otherwise have trouble traversing. It didn’t seem like an unpleasant class at all, at the low level I played it at.

Level a warrior to 60. Do it solo grinding.

Put up with the corpse runs. Put up with the downtime. Put up with the carefully pulling of quest mobs and backpeddeling/sidestrafing as to not aggro more.

When you’re done, you will be able to put up with just about anything that Classic can chuck at you. You will learn what a warrior can and cannot do, and seeing the power curve creep that allows you to do what you once couldnt is fantastic.

Enjoy it.

I have to underscore this. This was essentially my Warrior experience.

When I dinged 60, I basically started farming instances for gold. And it was really satisfying to see him get more and more powerful over time as I geared him up. Since the encounters were the same, I knew what it was like before and how they got better over time.

It was really fun.

Did you tank your way to 60?

What about world pvp? Weren’t you an easy target with crap mobility?

Farming instances for gold as a tank or dps? Was that very lucrative?

No, I did very little group content. I know I tanked some, maybe some 5 mans, but not much. It was mostly just solo questing.

PvE server. I never PvPd my warrior.

I was an Arms warrior.

All I can say is that it was lucrative to me. I was successful enough to do a LOT of it. I bought all of my gear, my mount, etc. using it. I was an Enchanter-1 and I was running RFD and SM (Cath and Armory) for blues that DEd in to Small Radiant Shards that sold for about 4g a piece.

Early on I was regularly eating, using health pots, and dying at times. But I could do all of the bosses. I started with a Lord Alexanders Battle Axe. I kept that until I got my Arcanite Reaper.

Worst single pull is the 5 ghost room in RFD when you take the shortcut to the spiral.

And even in the end when I was pretty OP things could always go wrong in the Cathedral.

gosh and i thought mine was the slacker generation
you guys quit over nothing

I leveled as arms. I only ran 5 mans for quest completion and a few for a little xp/gear (SM Cath - lost out on 2 ravagers and the shoulders to shaman) and tanked in ST quite alot. I also ran alot of BRD from 52+ both as dps and as tank (still arms spec)

Wpvp didnt matter while leveling and at 60 i can hold my own (Gear dependant)

I ran as dps in LBRS and netted 29g after vendoring drops and selling runecloth. Sure you cant make as much gold per hour as a mage soloing things, but its still decent.

As to the spec - pick either a dps or tank and dont waste gold on respecs. You can do both as arms/fury, but if you intend to MT and spend your endgame inside instances (prot is bad for solo gameplay), just roll with a deep prot spec from 60.

Arms gives you the added benefit of weapon specs and sweeping strikes - its quicker to kill 2-3 mobs with ss+ww/cleave than it is to kill a single mob.

Fury is fantastic for solo grinding.

Dont rely only on guides that state pre bis gear - look for those items that will remain bis past MC/ONY - Sav glad chest/hoj (hence the BRD grind :stuck_out_tongue: - gl) and save your gold for a lionheart helm instead of an AR.

It is important to note when it comes to hit chance. Before the hit cap (9% for a boss) the stat weight for 1 hit is equal to 40 attack power, after hit cap it is equal to 20 attack power with Dual-Wield. This is a very simplified explanation.

Level 60 - Attack Power stat weights after Hit Cap
Strength 10 20 Attack Power
Agility 10 15 Attack Power
Crit 1 30 Attack Power
Hit 1 20 Attack Power

Lots of wars already. Play what will be fun to you. Unless you want to dingeon spam.

I wouldn’t, I picked warr and I regret it every time I log. Sure, it’s down to personal preference, and if you enjoy being 100% dependent on other classes to help you do just about anything besides take a leak, level on.

Well i know warrior will be fun to me in group PvP and dungeons will be fine… by I know what won’t be fun… solo leveling to 60, getting shot in the back by enemy faction members, etc lol… try to farm in the open world as a warrior must be grrrrreat!

Yea that the biggest thing, like I said, I love the way my warrior looks, I love the idea of a warrior, but solo as a warrior definitely makes me question my life choices lol.
Hence why I’m here…

Warrior really isn’t that hard, just fight mobs that are lower level than you. Most of the problems you are having are to do with miss/parry/glancing blows which are more common the higher level mobs you fight.

So don’t tank dungeons till they are green to me? Wouldn’t it be faster to quest at that point? lol

For all the crap level a warrior gets it’s a downhill fight. The first 20 levels SUCK, even 20-30 isn’t really glamorous, but you can feel it start to get better. After 30 and specifically WW axe (get it as early as you can) you’re trending upwards and by the time you’re in your 40s you’ll feel good.

My only tip is to level as arms, SS is just a godsend when you hit 30 and when you get Whirlwind at 34 or 36 it just really makes taking on two mobs at once pretty easy. In fact it just feels like going for two mobs at a time is more effective than going 1v1.

I like to try to get myself to around last boss level before I do them, but that’s just me. Tanking sucks at low levels as well, but as you level up you just get better and better.

Well dungeons in classic kind of work this way anyway. EG in BFD, the boss might be level 26 but the trash is only level 21. So you won’t struggle hitting any of the trash mobs.
