Should I buy an Xbox series X? Are they better than PS5?
Treat it like a pokemon game- sort though the list of each exclusive and pick based off that
If you own a PC you have absolutely no reaons to buy one.
yeah, if you have a pc you get all the games on the xbox, however there are some differences in which games are on game pass and also, if you purchased any videos (ie all seasons of southpark) on the xbox store you lose those if you don’t have one.
Other than those 2 things there really isn’t a reason to purchase one. Also, I’ve been able to purchase multiple PS exclusives on PC. So, maybe there won’t be a reason for a PS anymore either.
Hardware wise, the two consoles are pretty much identical, having said that, if you have a gaming PC already, you may as well get a PS5 for the Playstation exclusives (if you’re into high quality story driven single player games that is).
If you don’t mind waiting 4-5 years for them, sure.
Exactly.
Like Horizon Zero Dawn coming to PC because of Forbidden West, God of War because of Ragnarok, The Last of Us Part I because II is out… i could go on for a while but they only really let exclusives go to PC when they’ve been milked completely and Sony wants to use them to give new players a taste of the franchise.
Or just get both if you can afford it. That’s how I handle pokemon
Doesn’t that depend on what kinda game you’re playing on the pc? If a pc ain’t like. Ultra up to the gills with graphics then a console can easily handle some games. That’s why I can’t play Monster Hunter World on my pc even if this is a pretty chonky good pc
It really depends on which type of games you like. If you are a western RPG player, I think XBox is a must pick. Skyrim is basically unplayable on PS5 due to Sony’s draconian mod rules. Elder Scrolls 6, Starfield, and the Fallout series are XBox exclusive. There’s the second string of Hellblade and Outer Worlds, with Avowed and Fable on the horizon, and there’s great short hits like Plague Tale (sequel incoming) and 12 minutes.
Longer term I think the prospect of all major Blizzard releases after Diablo 4 being XBox exclusive will also weigh into this. Diablo is one of those few PC games that is so, so much better with controller, and it’s basically a sure thing that series is moving to become exclusive.
The biggest deal for me though is Game Pass; Prior to Game Pass I was only really playing AAA hits because they were safe investments. I really love being able to play tons of games for free that I otherwise never would have invested 20-60$ to play. Sony is working on their own version but the value isn’t anywhere as close in terms of the catalogue.
Game Pass also lets me continue saves from my XBox onto my PC which is wonderful depending on whether I want to play at my desk or on my couch, and it lets me stream a ton of games from the cloud to my phone (again, synching saves) which is really nice for travel. I was never much of a mobile gamer because mobile games are micro-transaction cancer, but when you can play the full XBox version of the Tomb Raider trilogy or Skyrim on your phone, it’s a whole new experience. Makes airports and buses bearable.
I’m not into the JRPG’s (other than Elden Ring, if we’re calling it a JRPG), racer’s or FPS, but if I was that might change my answer. Microsoft owning 30+ studios and leading the way on leveraging cloud to change gaming is going to change the industry for the better, and I expect to see Sony, and more importantly Amazon, taking note.
Buying an XBox when you have a gaming PC is foolish.
The XBox “exclusives” are usually on PC too.
But the PS5 exclusives are, for the most part, genuine exclusives.
Forget the XBox Series X/S and PS5, a real robo-hunter knows the only worthwhile exclusive game is Way of the Warrior, and you are only getting that on 3DO…
If you are indifferent about where you play and don’t care about the longetivity of your library as much as you care about Sony exclusives, sure. You can definitely “min max” which systems you buy with a PC and a PS5 if you are willing to play every XBox title on the PC.
A lot of the value of XBox is how much more game pass lets you try games, and personally most of them I’d rather try on XBox than on PC.
Personally I prefer to play some games on the couch, and I much strongly prefer having 3rd party titles in Microsoft’s ecosystem. I know that any game I buy through XBox, even 3rd party games, will continue to be playable on my next console and the one after that into the future, while Sony is very cagey about whether or not they will port particular titles from the last gen to the next gen and they don’t see forwards/backwards compatibility as an issue, they see it as a motivator to sell their newest hardware.
Honestly, I say no, because most games you can play on PC with a controller. The only things you truly need a Xbox for is for playing exclusives like bloodborne for example.
I only used to have a console to be able to rent games cheap and then return them. As well as just have another form of entertainment. There are likely things that only come out for consoles you won’t find for PC as well.
You can also have the family and friends do a game night via consoles much easier imo.
I mean I have a ps5 already, but I’m more than willing to wait 5 years to play them. I spent so much on my pc the ps5 just kind of collects dust.
Sony!!! I am begging you…please release Bloodborne on PC !!!
Your money you decide. However the most basic advice on which console to buy is simply…which one offers the more games that appeal to you?
A console can have the best hardware on the world but if it has no games that appeal to you it might as well be a toaster.
I prefer Xbox for general gaming but I also have a PS4 for their exclusives. Since I don’t have the PS5 (I can’t find a PS5) I can’t really answer to which is better. I do have a Series X and I love it! I do miss OneGuide from Xbox One and being able to use the console to control my entertainment center.
