Hello again it is I, the returning player. Im just coming back into the game and although I dont think I will stick with this dwarf I started as and instead will either go horde or just choose I diffrent alliance race, but before I do that I wanted to know the point of being on a new player realm. Especially since it seems like when I walk into stormwind no one talks and when I was looking for a guild to join to not be alone as I play the game, no one would respond no matter the city I went to it seemed. It just feels like the server is kind of empty.
well new player realms are generally underpopulated, so it depends if you are after a hardcore team or not
Also if you are part of a active and fun realm feel free to post your favorites
They also don’t stay new player realms forever. At some point, they’re switched to regular realms so they don’t get over populated. I started playing with friends so I joined their realm from the get go so I’ve never played on a new player realm, but I think I’d be inclined to go with a regular realm with established guilds and communities and such. That said, because I’ve never played on a new player realm, I can’t really say if the atmosphere is any different. I’m not much help here. Sorry.
Really I just want to find a large pre-established guild that is active in chat, I know that probably isnt going to be a New Player Realm but I wanted to see if there was any reason for me not to go to a more populated realm then those.
Well the reason you would stay on a new realm or low populated realm is to farm materials for professions and so on, that was in the past anyway, but now due to CRZ there isn’t much point.
However if you go into warmode on any server, and roll a hunter, you are in for a treat, rare pets everywhere all over the realm.
Do you have to be in war mode for this? I’ve never seen that listed as a wm perk.
Don’t go to a new player realm, go to a well established high pop realm. New players realms are just dead realms that will be even more dead when people stop playing.
This game is dying. Go high pop or full, or you’ll be regretting your decision in a couple of months when you only have 4 dead guilds to pick from.
Don’t really agree with the first point, but rolling on anything other than high or full pop realms would be a huge regret unless you look at wow as a 1 player game.
Isn’t a new realm , really a 4-5 connected realms?
And the game is not dying… it’s full of players everywhere I look.
Game quality, player satisfaction, subscriber base, realm pops, stream coverage, content engagement duration, content engagement frequency all plummetting.
Its the reason we now have crz, merged realms, rewards for 6 months of subs, etc. It’s the reason blizzard is getting increased pressure to develop more profitable platforms like mobile
Those players are artificially and dynamically phased into each other due to lack of player base
Agree with all those points and I hate CRZ and phasing especially. I’m not ready to jump on the “wow is dying” thing because it’s a cliche by now.
I mean, just because it’s a cliche doesn’t mean it isn’t true. It’s still the best mmorpg franchise that ever was, but nothing lives forever
Do you know it’s true? How? What’s you’re gauge for what is “dying”? This thread was started by a player that just came back…
It’s pure speculation and conjecture and at this point after people spouting that line for the last 12 years, it’s also become a bit of a joke.
If the sub count is even 2 million, which seems to be the lower end of the guess (Which is all you can do at this point) I think it behooves you to do the actual math of what wows revenue stream would be per year. And the number you come up with is going to be the low end due to other sources and circumstances.
It may be declining. But dying? Not yet. Everything comes to the end of its lifespan in time. You could say wow has been dying since it was conceived and you wouldn’t be incorrect. But the actual end of it isn’t here yet and in all likelyhood it won’t be for a number of years yet.
But, you wanna push it so badly that a player comes back, asks for advice, and the first thing you do is spew out a line that, quite frankly, has no meaning anymore. Its beyond ridiculous.
apparently it’s been “true” for the last 14 years or so.
Apparently this game is still at its peak, otherwise anyone could argue it is dying and be right.
If you read what I wrote, I did give him advice. I also gave him the reasoning behind the advice. I’ve also given my reasoning behind the reasoning. You’re the one who’s in here pushing a narrative and ignoring the reason for the post.
If you can’t grasp that this game is on it’s last legs, then you’re deluded. We’re actually under 2m NA subs, and well under 2m people who still play the game. I personally have 5 BFA accounts, a two friends with 24 and 32, respectfully. I know at least 20 other people with at least 2 accounts. Once it stops becoming profitable for people to make money selling gold and items, an overwhelming majority of multibox accounts will go inactive, as well. It’s why blizzard refuses to fix the hyperspawns currently plaguing the game, and why they only periodically purge bot accounts. It wouldn’t be profitable for them to ban them upon detection. They need to make sure it’s profitable enough for botters to buy new copies of the game and continue botting. This isn’t new information.
It’s a game that has a die-hard player base that will defend the company until their dying breath, even though the company is no longer who originally created the game. It’s also a game that has no hopes of ever bringing in new players, which is why they’re going mobile with the Diablo franchise. I mean, I guess it entirely depends upon your definition of dying, but when realm pops drop drastically enough for them to remove realms, merge realms, or implement new phasing technology so it seems as though people are still playing the game then the writing is pretty much on the wall.
To put it in perspective, I’m on a “high pop” realm that feels like enough of a ghost town to make me consider moving to tichondrius or sargeras. It’s literally dead right now. We’re down 78% in the LookingForGroup channel population alone since the prepatch resub surge.
Edit: I see you’re on Stormrage. Maybe that’s why you seem to think the game is still doing well? You’re on the last fullpop alliance realm. You probably wouldn’t see the changes, as people are actively transferring to your realm because theirs are dying. Arthas has MAYBE 1,000 max level alliance toons left.
