Just returned to WoW after a very long hiatus. Currently at lvl 60 and I’m debating on playing through the Dragonflight leveling or just using my character boost to lvl 70.
One allows me to experience the content as I should, the other gives me time to gear up for War Within. I also don’t have as much free time to play as I used to.
I used to raid endgame all the way up until Battle for Azeroth, and only returned for a little with each expansion after so I’m still getting used to all the changes. This is also the only character I play…
Use the lvl 70 boost. It’ll give you lvl 20 renown with the base factions AND boosted renown gain on ALL alts. It will finish the base questlines for you though, which is why I would personally use it on a fresh toon to get the max gains from it, but you can use it on your current toon if you’re not into alts.
Run dungeons…dont pay them $60 over 10 levels lol
Would just play remix.
Dont turn on auto loot and spam instances leaving xp on the body. Run raids when you hit level 25 lfr then normal for +%xp then at level 50 open your mail box up and hit level cap. Takes about six hours total.
Leveling is the worst content wow offers.
Renown is all very new to me and I’m still trying to understand it, is this separate from reputation?
I have alts, they were mainly just to try out other classes, but If I use the boost on one of those alts, this character will get that reputation boost too, and then I could just play remix like @Primalmatter is saying?
A little confused though as to why is playing remix better than current content?
Save it incase there is a race/class you might want. You can do 60-70 in a few hours to a few days depending on your class and play time
There will be a quick catch up event more than likely for pre-patch that will pop you from 60 to 70 in just a blink of an eye and probably no real effort at all with decent gear drops on top of it.
It’s basically reputation but with a lot more tiers, letting them space out rewards more.
This depends entirely on if you enjoy questing or the storyline. If not, just boost.
If you want to see the zones, play through the campaign. It’s really not very long. I play slowly and it would probably take me 15 hours at the very most if I’m taking it all in. I bet the average player does it in less than 10 hours.
There’s a pre-patch event coming to give catch up gear. You have a month to get those 10 levels and then another month to do the event.
If you have any interest in DF, I’d level a toon from 60.
You don’t have to worry about gearing up, the pre-patch event is going to hand out 489 gear like candy.
If you want Something To Do and end up with a 70, then Remix is available. But Remix is not Retail. The experience is quite different. Done efficiently, it’s a lot of (almost exclusively) group content. And it’s group content at a go Go GO!! pace. If you ever felt dungeons were fast before, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
It’s fun in its own right, but I don’t feel it prepares you for anything other than having a L70 toon.
I honestly don’t know what a remix character will look like when converted back to Retail. I doubt any of the gems we have will come over, so I don’t even know what the gear will be like. 20-25% of our DPS comes from the tinker gems.
I fully expect to have a shell of a character when it’s done. The good news, I hope, is that it will be decked out with 36 slot bags.
DF was a good expansion, the zones are gorgeous and worth exploring and playing through. That said, it’s not going away. You can level through it in WW later if you like.
The Remix experience will be back at some point, dunno if for WW or maybe the next, so don’t let FOMO scare you into playing it.
Renown is reputation, yea.
Many rewards are locked behind renown though questlines no longer are.
Normal playthrough 60-70 wont get you to 20 though. And i think it goes up to 25 or 30 to collect all mounts and dragon appearances.
Remix is a separate game version, so to say. It locks a character in Pandaria timewalking. It’s very quick leveling, but that character is locked in that version until TWW drops.
You can earn recolours of/and existing pandaria transmogs, toys and mounts.
So it all depends on what you want to do. Learn about the dragonflight story and collect the goodies from it and such, or just get a character ready for TWW.
So I could just boost an alt and then have an easier time getting my renown up to max just by leveling through dragonflight with my main?
if the character is intended for play in the new expansion, is there any point in bothering with DF renown stuff?
That is what I did. But I ended up not liking the alt I boosted, so be careful on what you choose. If it’s one of the OG (not allied) races, they can also earn their heritage armour. I think all but pandas have heritage armour now.
If you want to level, do it in Remix. Esp for alts.
Since you have game experience including raiding, you’ll get back into the swing of things pretty easily. So I’d just level a character (or several alts - you have plenty of time to do this) in Remix. Honestly, rather than take your level 60 through 10 levels in DF, just start a fresh character of that class in Remix - the leveling is that fast.
That way your level boost will still be available once you’ve gotten more of a feeling for the current game.
