Should fire use flamestrike ever?

and if so, with how much mobs

I would say 3-4

thats what i said to my friend who was doing less dps than me on my healer but he said it does no dmg  weird well ty

I only use it when it procs really :woman_shrugging:

My ignite does more damage by passive spread until we’re talking 10+ targets

Check ~https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/fire-mage-pve-dps-rotation-cooldowns-abilities

ik but in an aoe situation u always flamestrike on streak right?

What aoe situation? I would stick with normal rotation
The only times I can think it’s truly warranted in any current boss fights is carapace 3rd phase.

I almost never use it in mythic_

so rotation doesnt change between single target and aoe?

Generally no, not unless you have like at least 10 targets.

ty for the info

I’ll cast it once the first time when it’s instant When there’s 5+ targets but the next times i get instants i just use Pyroblast but I am no expert I rarely use flamestrike but then again I’m not an expert

This is why you’ll see geared fire mages doing 50k overall dps in m+, when they should be around 80-100k overall…

i pugged a key and a 460 fire was doing 30k overall (lol)

Yeah, too many of them don’t know how to aoe properly and think you only use flamestrike when there’s a dozen mobs. They all just spend hours and hours practicing perfecting the combustion opener and think they know how to actually play fire.

Come on, post on your main if you’re going to subtweet people.

https://www.method.gg/guides/fire-mage/playstyle-and-rotation method says cast it on 2+ targets if ur specced into flame patch and 4+ if u arent specced into that

I’m happy to stand corrected.
Both icy veins and method point out that the mobs must (a) stay in the location for the duration; (b) must not have any sort of priority target.

4+ if its not specced, 2+ if specced.
If they stand still for the specced then its fine, and generaly that is the case.
Otherwise, the passive spread damage fro ignite and combust will be far better, particularly if there is a priority target.

FIre is a weird spec where, they don’t really have to do a dedicated AOE rotation until a high number of targets appear.
