Like, do event mini bosses like Hogger really need to take as long or longer to kill than end bosses like Ragnaros? Should Hakkar one-shot players when you can pretty much just AFK auto-attack Ragnaros or Onxyia? Seems kinda silly.
Edit:
Good.

Problem with Hogger is that people are stupid and don’t read tooltips, so nobody does the little mini-quests to remove his half damage shield and just sit there and auto-attack him for half an hour.
Best to just avoid him.
They don’t so why are you asking?
When it comes to events like this pretty much the whole thing needs to be designed understanding the the average person is not going to do mechanics and will in fact just sit there hitting the boss like a target dummy. You’ll be lucky if they use abilities.
It should also probably come with the consideration that when you’ve got hyper fast leveling, you’re gonna have a lot of those people also be severely undergeared.
I pretty much just avoid Hakkar while leveling my alts. Even on the Lich King, when I’m sitting at level 69 in level 60 greens the defiles can kill me in a few seconds. On melee characters it has led to me not doing much because I can’t melee the boss without standing in the defile that got dropped on top of the boss and stood in until it was max radius.
If they do make mini bosses harder and longer then people won’t bother to do them.
The event cycles and when the timer is up it moves on to the next area.
It’s a unnecessary change, if anything they need to do is reduce health pools so it doesn’t feel like it’s taking forever to kill.
People are leveling alts now and this is a temporary event no need to make it miserable.
I’ve not once been able to AFK auto-attack Arthas or Ragnaros because they target people with Defile and Lava Burst respectively, and it’s ALWAYS those non-raiders/M+ runners that get targeted and takes it into the group or on top of someone. Always. Other than that, yes, you can afk through the entire thing. Onyxia isn’t recommended for afking either, because of her Deep Breath, which always seems to point towards me.
Yeah, each end boss does have, like, one ability to dodge every once in awhile. But I can honestly say I’ve eaten an entire Deep Breath while not paying attention and not died. Meanwhile the Hakkar mini boss drains health to 1 in one shot, or takes control of other players who, if you’re not 70 yet, instantly push your face out the back of your head.
I dunno, either the end bosses should be a bit harder or the harder hitting or longest lasting mini bosses should be nerfed a bit, or both.
It’s the scaling that’s a problem. I’ve seen plenty of Hogger fights where people were doing the “side quests” and his shield is removed and it still takes a long time. They need to cap all the boss types HP after a certain number of people tag them, say 20 people like a raid.
I don’t know why people are still even doing the mini bosses. You don’t get anything extra from them and they take too long. Regular events award the same memories and crests and are super quick when enough people do them at once.
I think a big portion of that is people that just mooch off everyone else’s work. I was flying to Onyxia and on top of her raid entrance, there were about half a dozen people just sitting up there during the entire fight. They were getting credit, but not helping. I think Blizzard should shorten all these bosses range and not give credit for not attacking. It’s stupid with how long they take sometimes. Bosses and mini-bosses, alike.
Good.
