That rat deserves no say in what goes on in modern day Quel’thalas. I’m confident that with some gentle encouragement from Thalyssra, Lor’themar will be ready to claim that dusty old throne.
Lor’themar is more of an Aragorn.

Lor’themar is a hunter. Survival hunter who uses a big sword and wears plate armor…
That’s all fine and dandy except for the little detail that it was Kael’thas who declared that there would be no king in Silvermoon, as a means of honouring his late father and instead chose to rule simply as prince until he made Lor’themar regent.
Of course, he then went and declared himself Sun King in Outland but that was after his mind was addled by fel caused paranoia + is legally distinct from High King of Quel’Thalas.
Not keeping Kael around is one of the biggest blunders this game has managed.
Kael’thas was killed in an era when I think they honestly did not expect to keep the game going for even a decade, let alone 20 years, so they burnt through their material like gas soaked paper in a furnace with little regard for the future implications.
In retorspect, I am sure they highly regret it.
He was one in the old tcg for, uh, reasons.
Kaels also dead and doesn’t get to have a say in whether or not the blood elves want to reinstate the monarchy again. One of those annoying things about being a corpse
Well, the good thing is blizz at least can have the blood elves reinstate the monarchy of their own free will. One of the good things about writing new stories and the guy who declared there wouldn’t be any new future kings being dead and all.
You mean you want to dethrone the only líder who still have balls in the Horde?
Please… The crying baby Baine, the traitor Thrall, an elf addicted to mana, a cursed Troll, damn… Horde nowadays is a waste of my time.
Would love if his buddy Halduron got some more spotlight though
However I WOULD love to see Blood Elves have a mage put on the throne of the storyline - To match & contend with Jaina Proudmoore, in stand-alone power …
It’s rather insulting to both the Nightborne and Blood Elves — Who hold civilisations of high magical society, to be utterly:
— by a human mage.
Talk about a sloppy slap in the face. lol
Blood Elves don’t want a monarchy anymore. Kael’thas soured the idea forever. They are more than happy with the Ranger General lead them. People underestimate the value that Lor’themar and Thalyssra bring to the Horde. They are the two most diplomatic and trustworthy leaders in the Horde besides Baine. Those three are the ONLY ones alliance leadership trusts.
He needs to give up his plate-looking Mail armor transmog already.
Also on Lor’themar for King, or continued regency. I think his own mental health only allows him to really tolerate being Regent Lord. He is (prolly more than) 3 times younger than Thalyssra and looks like a decade or more older than her due to him premature aging cos of stress.
Reading in A Moment in Verse, or how he writes to and about Thalyssra in Exploring Azeroth, it’s clear he never even thought about the politics of his marriage with Thalyssra, like at all. When she’s the racial leader of one of the newest races inducted into the Horde. Like he treats his relationship and time with her as his escape from politics.
Right now he can separate personal life and time with her from his duties as Regent Lord (and hers as First Arcanist), but if the masses want elevate it even further up, him becoming King and her becoming Queen? I just think Lor’themar wouldn’t be able to tolerate that. It’s like in A Moment in Verse, he says he barely has anything to really call his own anymore because of how much of his life is now dedicated to his people. His relationship with Thalyssra is something he considers as truly his own, and he can only keep it separate from politics if he isn’t anything more than Regent Lord.
Maybe he’s a Pathfinder style Magus.
It’s also an option for any Blood Elf mage or priest, just like that Stormwind Plate Heritage set is for the Human analogues. In fact my Fire Mage is rockingthe Red Stormwind plate set.
It was the High Elves after all who created the Mage artifact weapon as a sword.
Actually, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
The idea that Kael’thas declared there would never be another king comes from the short story, ‘Shadow of the Sun,’ which was a fan-made story Blizzard chose to declare as canon.
As of BC, Kael’thas, was styled as the, ‘Sun King,’ an appellation that was later confirmed in Legion, and then again in the Shadowlands. Although, even that’s weird. In some gossip text he calls himself a prince, but his voice lined greetings include, “You address the Sun King.”
One could argue the short-story retconned quest text in BC, but Legion and Shadowlands then retconned that retcon.
Or blizzard being blizzard, they forgot their own lore. Wouldn’t be the first time
Or the last.
The ascended fanfic only related Kael’s new era blood elf speech in Blood of the Highborne. When addressed as King Kael’thas, he answered, “Anasterian was our king, and he shall always be remembered as the last king of the high elves.”
I’m pretty sure “Lord of the Blood Elves” and “Prince” were his official titles as head of state and “Sun King” was pomp, much like “King of France” and “Prince of Andorra” were Louis XIV’s regnal titles and “Sun King” was pomp.
I suppose it could become the principality of Quel’thalas, with a Prince Lor’themar and technically hold true to the final royal decree of the Sunstrider dynasty that the line of kings is ended.
Lor’themar technically isn’t a hunter like us. He’s an old elven ranger ( used to be a different class.) he could use arcane shock ( blasts a target with arcane magic) arcane shot ( only hunter ability he has) , could mana drain and use mass charm on nearby enemies. He’s a weird magic ranger hybrid. Some farstriders could also talk to trees and “disappear” into the woods and use minor druidic magic. Elven ranger’s are a weird mix of classes.
If the whole Elven Reunification is infact going to be a thing with actual lore implications, I’m sure Lor’themar would have to reaffirm that the monarchy is no more.
The other elven groups likely would not be happy about being beholden to a king of a foreign country. I smell a Elven council in the making
They actually have leeway to get away with that, they just have to frame it as the rebuilding of the Convocation of Silvermoon.
