Should Blizzard Denote Boosted Characters?

Should there be a way to tell which characters are boosted or not? Would this affect you playing with those toons?

Edit for the “woke”: I obviously don’t think this should happen. Hence, why it’s a question. Go attack someone else.

Yes, maybe they could put a tatoo of their account number on the character’s arm, or give them a little gold star on their chest. Or maybe make them wear striped pajamas.

Why would this need to be a thing? Buying a boost does not automatically mean the player doesn’t know how to play the game or the class. A lot of specs in TBC have simple rotations and are simple to play. I am assuming that’s the reason for the post to enable blatant discrimination towards people that chose not to play the game your way.

Maybe a bit too far there pal.

Chances are players will be mainly using these boost on classes they’re not as familiar with.

Naw.

We’ll know it’s you.

Pretty obviously not

Entirely irrelevant because it’s not going to happen in 99999 years. You’ve got a better chance of becoming CEO of Blizzard

Maybe but still an assumption. I have a 60 mage and druid but would love to have a 60 rogue for 70 arena and BG’s. I might boost a rogue to 58 and level it in TBC from there.

I think boosts will fall under certain situations like:

  1. Boosting a toon you know but didn’t level during classic.
  2. Boosting a toon you’ve never played.
  3. Boosting a toon to avoid vanilla leveling to get straight to TBC content because that’s what you have been waiting for.
  4. Boosting a paladin on alliance side for dungeon boosting and AOE grinding in TBC.

This reminds me of years ago when OGame added officers - basically, microtransactions. Before that it had been 100% free to play and funded by ads. It remained free to play, of course, but these officers offered some minor in-game advantages (and they were improperly priced to begin with, IMO).

Of course, not only did a lot of people blow up on the forums about these new features, but some even talked about coordinated griefing against players who used them.

Do we really wanna encourage that sort of thing here by handing out duncecaps…?

Incidentally that behaviour quickly died out. I don’t know if Gameforge blasted the hell out of anyone caught griefing, or if the interest simply died out. I’d assume the latter. Same thing will happen here. No one will be complaining about this boost in six months.

i’ve been playing wow since original vanilla. i currently have a 60 mage, a 46 holy pally, a 40 warlock, a 34 hunter, a second 31 mage, a 20 druid and a 16 priest, on classic. i plan on blizz boosting the priest, not because i dont know how to play a priest, but because i’m already working on so many alts. if blizz also gave us fresh no boost/no transfer tbc servers, i’d also be leveling a draenei disc priest and potentially, a draenei shaman on them. the big question is:

how many chars do i have to level to max the old fashioned way, before you realize i’m not being lazy if i want to use a blizz boost lol

No There shouldn’t be there absolutely should Not be you can’t judge a person just because they’re boosted.

You never know maybe it’s someone that’s Coming to play burning her say that’s a retired raider you don’t.

The only way to judge a person is on their performance as a player not the fact that they were boosted or not.

A doesn’t add anything good and it’s nothing but toxic is what you’re talking about

I’m against the boosts but no.

I could care less if you boosted or not.

People who have leveled to 60 still are bad.

Not sure why people think marking those that were boosted will significantly increase their rate of getting people who know how to play.

How will it change your quality of life? Nobody cares except for people who live on forums to complain about everything.

The very fact you cant identify who a boosted character will be is evidence enough that boosts wont impact you.

If the boost comes in TBC, I won’t play but if I did, I’d avoid playing with boosted toons out of principle.
