Should Anduin or Arator be the first to wield the Shadow or Light and Shadow in this Saga at the same time?

Been discussing while working (to channel the stress) who would be best or most epic to do the Spec Change in a scene to wield the Shadow or both Light and Shadow:

My Argument is it should be Anduin: He is a Priest and have been shown to wield both…even if he carries a sword. Which would be epic he wielding Shadow with his Sword and then split it and go full discipline wielding Shadow and Light, like a Enhancement Shaman but with Shadow and Light lol.

My Friends Argument is that it should be Arator: He already have the tattoo and his been called the son of Light and Shadow. Is Horde and we need new Blood added to the rooster. Anduin is Alliance and it be nice a tease to see how Paladins would wield the Shadow or the combination creating the more benevolent looking combination in the “Twight” Spell school, as a future Hero Spec or Class Skin if they ever happened. Also he needs an updated model! lol

I agree with my friend but seen how partly centered the story is around Anduin I can’t help this would be what could happen as much as I would LOVE some Horde character attention like that. However since it’s kind of a RPG discussion that we might or might not include on our own gametime while playing the TWW… I rather ask your opinion on it.

So what do you think should it be Anduin or should we leave something epic for a another NPC to take the spotlight?

Thank you for taking the time to read and if responded thank you for your opinion!

Do you mean a void paladin type of deal or a new void class?

Wielding both forces we have seen plenty, Anduin himself used shadow magic before, Moira is a disc priest and she also wields both.

Maybe Alleria will found a “void hunter” class between TWW and Midnight, but who knows.

Well, we have Void elf priests who’ve used the Light, Discipline Priests and Lightforged Draenei can use Shadow spec.

If I had to pick one of the two, I’d say Anduin.

That bit about Arator makes me wonder if Xe’ra got her prophecy wrong a bit. “Child of Light and Shadow” could also apply to Arator.

Um, this is just theory crafting but since with Leader NPC you kinda have more elbow room to get them to do thing not yet possible in the game, yes, I think or guess it be like a New Void Class. Since Anduin even though was under the influence of the Jailer, did a class change of sort… my line of thought was: “Hey maybe he can do that with shadow too?”

It’s possible it’s not the first time the light can be “blinded” or “misdirected” by their singular path… and if Dreadlords are involved and that Lothraxion was actually a doble agent and not sincerely converted… I can totally see it and see how more story and background could be written to tie that up, even if his loyal to the light for real, there are other way Xe’ra could have gotten it wrong… or just that Illidan is not the only one that could fit that prophesy but since the Light see only ONE path… obviously she would have miss if other could fit it, in her unwavering zeal toward the Legion and Void… if only she delve into “The many Paths” of the Shadows a bit… LOL sorry in my head there could be so many ways it could go… I’m sure Blizz team already have set their own ideas into motion at this point, but its fun to discuss nonetheless!

ALso thank you for the reply, we been at this discussion since early in the morning! lol
This helps a lot! :100:
 :+1:

We also have a void elf paladin NPC.

Arator becoming a ren’dorei would be an interesting development as well.

Maybe he absorbs the void part of the Beledar in some way?

For me it largely depends on the character. Moira will always be a blessing to see/take quests from for example

But that’s me

With apologies to your friend, I’m pretty sure calling Arator a Horde character is stretching it.

Granted, I tend to tune out when we get all cosmicy, but I think we have a few contenders for wielding Light and Shadow at once, including any given disc priest.

I’m pretty sure Moira counts and (in my entirely unbiased opinion) is way more fun than more $&$@*^% humans and elves.

There’s nothing “Light” about the Slave Queen of the Dark Iron Slavers.

Fearbreaker goes brrrrrr.

Actually it’s more of a kah-THONK, but details.

I did appreciate seeing her spell effects and a semifunctional ACTION PRIEST in questing.

Fearbreaker: you loved a slaver, loved owning slaves, loved lying to and manipulating everyone, and using your father’s figuratively deceased corpse to do it.
Also Fearbreaker: ONLY YOU ARE WORTHY.

Don’t know what to tell you, Dread.

Just further evidence that dwarves have more fun.

So what you’re saying is that dwarves are gods amongst men and have fun while being awesome?

Well to be honest we been really struggling thinking of Horde characters NPCs to do anything in the expansion stories as we try to enhance our own stories with our own Horde characters!

So yes Arator is stretching it by quite a bit! I’m sure he actually laugh if he read this…

Me too and so many others…even my alliance zealot friends. Sigh… but we try to make the best of it as we play I guess…
:face_exhaling:
On the positive side the story really gooooooood!!! Even FF14 players I know are praising it and talking on how good it is… even the music and the scene are soo on point…IMO

NGL, I always liked dwarves, and Interacting with them more in this xpac (and earthen) is making me like them even more.

Don’t know if enough for me to reroll one or change my main, but they’re on par with my favorite races at this point.

Also, extra fun points for dread trying to bait counter arguments and none giving in.

Dark Iron ethics aside, my point is that we have a few characters already who do both like it’s no big thing…

And who are waaaaaaay more fun than Blanduin (bless his heart) or the sweet (but honestly free of anything resembling a personality) Arator.

Don’t get me wrong – we all know anything plot important is going to happen because of a human or a short elf (maybe a tall elf if the writers are feeling spicy). I’m just saying that that’s boring. Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss is waaaaaay more fun with dwarves.

Honestly, it could be either. I’d prefer it to be neither, but both have some solid reasoning to the prophecy referring to them.

Anduin has used shadow magic before and his time with the Jailor also brought him closer to dark magic. I could see his “healing” process becomes finding a duality between the poles.

Arator is a son of both Light and Shadow given his heritage. Him becoming the bridge to his parents’ legacy would play into their familial narrative arc. Plus, a half-elf is closer to the initial prophecy.

Blizzard seems keen on the whole middle-path duality thing, so Id say it would be whatever character can embrace that balance better.
