I mean… just because something stupid is standard practice everywhere in the job market doesn’t make it less stupid.
Case in pooint. I am a shooting and gun enthusiast . I enjoy target shooting and collecting firearms etc. I was strongly encouraged by my HR dept to take down all my posts about them because " it makes some people uncomfortable and scared of you." So i created another account just for that purpose. Now, because of the climate we live in i have to delete that account because some random stranger can call my local Police dept and tell them they are afraid of me, and with no warrant they can bust in my house and seize my private property and take me in . Its called Red flag laws
I assume you’re talking about Lore and tbh I forgot he was part of the WoW CMs.
Guys. The LEAD community manager (Lore) was caught calling WoW players —bags. This should not be a surprise to anyone.
Lol this is the exact kind of comment that he’s talking about in the tweet. How would you know any of that? Have they said they are firing more people and that Activision is taking over? If not, why would you just make that up?
Why would you make a meme out of all those people’s jobs?
And yet the fired Yitsiens(sp) and he was decent to everyone for themost part
I agree. But only the game industry do people complain so much with what most people have to go through with daily. Only on a much personal level because we dont get to be behind a computer dealing with it. Sometimes over the phone but a lot of times face to face.
Beyond that, pretending that a lot of the game industry doesnt brings it on itself is just more fuel to the fire. A lot of CM’s in the industry seem to think that they are unique with what they have to go through. It just gets annoying.
Well, he’s not wrong.
Yeah apparently to blizzard Lore is essential but other CMs aren’t. Their actions and words, not mine in case someone wants to get mad.
Yes, this is a good example of what I’m talking about. I don’t see why others have the ability to infringe upon your rights in such a manner. It shouldn’t really be your company’s business at all unless you’re talking about acts of violence. If you enjoy shooting clay pigeons and want to talk about that on your social media accounts, that shouldn’t be a problem.
I disagree and agree. He has a point, he has a terrible way of saying it and comes to the wrong assumption, in a manner that blames players for the layoffs when its been stated, by Blizzard, thats not the case.
Should both sides be more respectful? Yes. Is blaming players for corporate restructure going to help anyone? No. If his intention was to create dialogue or…
then he didnt do a very good job of it, in my opinion.
But then, he has years of putting his foot in his mouth so I imagine many dont see this as a one-off incident but just the latest.
Because mass firings always happen in waves. First they shake the tree and do the majority of the firings, then they do smaller batches during the fiscal year .
And anyone who has been following the company and knows anything about business knows that Activision has taken over Blizzard. Its why they dont have a CEO now, and Brack is the President. He is a Bobby Kottick stooge. No one is making that up, it is what is happening at Blizzard
Why does any sane. independent, mature adult give half a damn what a single guy said, in regards to his own opinion, in regards to a bloody company? That’s just beyond backwards.
Making a lot of assumptions here, fam.
Lore is an employee of Blizzard/Activision and is speaking about layoffs concerning that company in a non official statement.
Shareholders were told one thing and Lore just said something different in regards to the layoffs.
Lore does not understand that his statement can be brought before the SEC as proof that Activision lied on their conference call.
Activision told shareholders they were restructuring to remove duplicate positions and streamline their developement.
Lore just told the public the layoffs were because people quit WoW. This is a pretty major issue.
You speak with a lot of confidence, but you’re wrong. Companies have to report layoffs, they wouldn’t do it more than once in a fiscal year. There are no “waves”. And no evidence supports that.
If Activision was taking over, they would just do it. They are BOTH owned by a blanket company. There again isn’t anything that supports what you’re saying. It’s just your conjecture - which you’re entitled to - but lets not try to present all this as fact when it’s not. These are real people’s jobs.
Yeah, I think C.M’s can be snarky to an extent on twitter. Like for example, if you have that person stalking your page writing a bunch of crap, it’s o.k to be snarky with them.
This is what bothers me about the whole thing. The outrage culture we live in seems to have abandoned any and all awareness of double standards. People can be insufferably rude and abusive, but the moment the tables turn even to the slightest degree, suddenly it’s a huge problem.
Where is the outrage from the community when those people are being rude/abusive to the employees? That’s something I’d like to see.
It’s blizzards fault for making a crappy expansion and he wants to blame the playerbase for not blindly supporting this mess.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I have a feeling like you’re not very respectful to those “minimum wage employees”?
