Those are what we call ramp specs sir. I don’t think dev qualifies.
Why is this so hard to understand?
They’re not ‘extra steps’, they’re different steps. It’s not a “band-aid” or any other sort of compensation. It’s literally the playstyle that makes mid-range work. If you don’t like the gimmick that’s cool, but it’s not some design flaw, or evokers would have been bad all expac.
You literally admitted yourself above that the mobility unlocks the range–that’s the spec.
If you don’t like it, there are lots of options.
Having to burn mobility to get back into position so you can dps, when all other range simply continue dpsing from afar sounds like extra steps to me
What? The mobility is literally part of the kit to keep your uptime… Evoker wouldn’t have such a low cd cast-while-moving mobility spell if it had 40 yards, because it wouldn’t need it. That mobility exists purely for positioning and maintaining uptime.
Everything you’re saying just adds up to you not liking/understanding evoker playstyle-- which is fine and fair, but it doesn’t really necessitate them changing it.
… 3 rolls, tiger speed (170%), teleport… and 40 yard range… hmm… yep ‘balanced’. For everyone arguing against range… go play preservation for a week (dont cherry pick melee comps) and come back with your opinion. Most people commenting are dps players with zero healing experience.
They’re also making it very clear they’re talking about DPS, lol.
There are more experienced healers than yourself in here arguing that the range is fine.
Our glide gives this just double jumping, and roll doesn’t compare to hover in the slightest. They don’t have VE or rescue either.
Yes, because the spec wouldn’t function otherwise. It’s a crutch, as I said. Even with mobility, its weaknesses can still be exploited.
For example, in PvP Evokers are the only caster where outranging them is a viable strategy. As a full range caster you can out range them and use cc/roots to lock them down where they cannot retaliate.
They’re a class that is susceptible to all the pitfalls of a caster (interrupts/cast times), without enjoying the full benefit of being a caster (attacking at range), while also suffering the pitfalls of melee (being out-ranged).
I’d argue preservation suffers the most from the range restriction. Particularly in raid encounters that force the group to spread out and don’t allow for them to move closer to their heal targets.
I play preservation, and I want 30 yard range to remain.
It’s usually not an issue.
And when it is, people have to severely misposition for it to be so.
It’s more functional than playing resto shaman in Shadowlands.
How are you this dense?
You keep saying this like evoker released and the range didn’t work so they added all the mobility to the kit to try to make it function.
By your own admission here, the spec does work and function --you just don’t like how.
It’s not a “crutch” or “bandaid”, it’s the core design of the kit. Every spec in this game was designed with core functionality in mind that would break the spec if taken away–that’s class design.
Stop trying to make it sound any different for evoker.
You don’t enjoy the core design of this spec and you’re entitled to that opinion.
Go play something else instead of expecting blizzard to mold the spec to your shortcomings/preference.
With the focus of rated pvp being centered around bg blitz a range increase is inevitable. Either through a pvp talent or the class tree. While not apparent at lower skilled rbgs its really noticeable in higher tiered games. Enough of the bigger names will complain about this to get it changed. Just have to wait it out.
I want whatever drugs you’re on.
Blizzard does not design core class changes around any kind of pvp, lol .
What names are you referring to here?
And those names are also performing better than 40 yard range classes. (Max rating solo shuffle or 3v3.)
Also RBGS seem like a joke? 120 wins, 18 losses for the highest rated player.
That’s so not competitive. If someone is already at the pinnacle and they want buffs, they don’t need it.
Ion clearly said that bg blitz is what pvp will be focused around from tww moving forward. Bgs and arenas are a different bag all together. Rbgs being dead is why this hasnt become an issue. Every hardstuck devoker will be screaming for a range increase come tww and thats how itll all play out.
No, the evokers that excel, will continue to do so. Or there can be some other form of power increase.
Tell me, how much is 40 yard range worth to you? If you had the choice between 15 more yards or say 50% more damage. What would you pick?
If you can’t put a price on it, you fail at math.
Name the last time a class got a change as massive as a 15 yard range increase in all facets of the game because players are hardstuck in the rankings of a mini-game that Blizzard doesn’t care about.
Evoker is the only mid ranged caster in the game. If you want the sarcastic answer its ret paladin. A game mode they dont care about that is getting a map implemented just for it and pvp is being changed around it instead of arenas. For something they dont care about they sure are putting dev time into it.
Lol yes , the first bg since the trash one in bfa, and when was the last one before that?
So much development time, clearly. It likely took them longer to make plunderstorm.
Ret paladin rework had zero to do with pvp, but I’m assuming you know that based on the phrasing.
They don’t make huge changes to classes for PvP and you know it.
Yea earlier i posted it would probably be through a pvp talent. I just see it happening doesnt matter to me either way im maining evoker in tww regardless. We will just have to sit back and wait to see the amount of increase evoker range threads next expac. I have a good feeling there will be alot more.
Won’t even scratch the surface of how many “gladiator spec” warrior threads or “bring back ranged SV Hunter” threads there are and a lot of good those have done, eh?
Of course there will be more, bad players can’t figure out how to exist without 40 yards and the forums are 95% bad players complaining and asking blizz to compensate.
Hard facts and I’m a PvPer. Range is fine, not an issue because Devo blasts.
Now if we could make Enhancement not be the games new wheelchair class… that’d be great.
