Shop.. being weird?

I don’t know if I’m having issues with browser settings or something, but when I click the shop link above, it’s taking me to a Spanish language site.
If I tell it I want English, it’s giving a bad translation of the Spanish site.

(some of the translations are pretty cute though… “sun warmed fluff” is an adorable name for a mount) :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Is the URL meant to be pointing here?

It’s showing in English to me when clicking Shop at the top.

Could it be because I’m outside the US?

Oh that’s a great question. I bet it is.

I think Blizzard web sites geolocate and set your locale to match. It winds up as part of the URL. The URL you have linked into your post says https://us.shop.battle.net/*es-es*/family/world-of-warcraft.

I emphasized (with asterisks) the localization string: “es-es”, which is language (Español) and country (España). So you geolocated to Spain and the website assumes (quite reasonably) you want to work in Spanish.

Change that part of the URL to “en-us” and it becomes the American English rendering of that page.

I’m in Au, and this has never happened previously

Most Au players use the NA client, which hosts Oceanic realms… so sending Au players to the Es site, seems like some sort of error

(but it’s hilarious seeing the bad translations… “Wondrous Wave Whisker” = “Wavy Marvelous Tacho” and race change = breed change) :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I’m not saying the geolocation is correct. Only that it would be consistent with Blizzard somehow thinking you were in Spain.

Multi-dollar company and all that.
