Do you think they will ever get rid of these and go to one currency for us with the Polished Pet Charm?
They seem to continue to want to use the polished for everything going forward and having two currencies seems to make no sense. It does not seem like it would take a lot of effort to convert everything costing the shiny charms over to polished. In the process they could also allow those of with shiny charms to convert them over to polished.
Unfortunately I don’t think they will…we did have as small window before BfA to use up the other pet charms and buy upgrade stones and that…those pet charms can still be used in your Garrison to buy other pets and items…have to be Thankful when we went from BfA too Shadowlands they didn’t change them again on us…1,000’s of players missed out small window to use them up.
True, but old stuff still gives them out and if you are like me, you still run some of the old stuff. I have everything you can spend them on, so they are all useless which seems such a pity.
they are not useless, i make decent passive income by selling the two toys you can buy for 50 and 100 charms. Easy gold for doing almost nothing (i still run legion missions for them using the mobile app, 1-2 checks per day)
While that may hold true for you. That would depend on your server’s economy if those pets sold well for someone, for my AH, they don’t nor do they sell fast. In any case, it does not effect my suggestion, those charms would simply change over to the current currency. There are multiple ways to handle such a conversion (gold, current charms).
However, thanks for the suggestion as some people may not be aware of this.
I have to agree that for the most part Shiny Pet Charms are useless. I have over 1K over multiple toons. I do not understand why there is not a pet charms conversion we could do… 10 Shiny to one polished for example. Could add it into a pet vendor. I do legion to level pets and toons so have these on multiple toon. Or even in garrison give the option for higher cost of shiny for pet treats etc…
They intentionally decided to go with a new currency after Legion, as they don’t want too many sources for each pet coin in the game. It’s an inflation control.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they introduced a new coin in the next xpac for the same reason.
Well they didn’t change it from BfA too Shadowlands now…I was keeping an eye out for any info they would but early on with coming of SL they stated they were not…and as far as inflation control sure didn’t work against me …I walked into SL with over 19,000 pet charms and all the pets brought up for BfA…I just purchased the new Battle Pet that cost 10,000 charms and still have over 16,000 in my alts bank. Inflation doesn’t stop you its lack of alts to run battle fight dailies with alts.
The Shiny Pet Charms lasted two expansions - WoD and Legion - which is why I said I wouldn’t be surprised if they came up with a new one for the next expansion.
And it’s because of people like you (no hate - play your way) that inflation controls like changing currencies exist. If the new expansion dropped tomorrow, and they didn’t change the currency, you’d be able to buy all the new pets day one. The devs don’t want that to happen, so they can either raise the cost of pets - which screws over the bulk of the players that only run one (or a few) toons through some dailies - or they can come up with a new currency and put us all on “relatively” even footing. Boom! Inflation sorted.
