Shimmering Expanse is beautiful

I was there on an alt yesterday. I haven’t been there a years but it’s so beautiful. There’s so many colors and all the corals are so vibrant. The elven ruins there are huge.

I was trying to imagine it without the water and comparing it to Nazjatar. I didn’t realize how drab Naz is in comparison. The naga areas under the corals in Nazjatar are way superior but that’s about it. The overall aesthetic in all the Vashjir zones are better; including the Abyssal depths, not just shimmering and kelpthar forest.

I completely agree. Cash joe sold the idea of this being a night elf city, Xin Aszhari looks like a town.
What I wish they had done was added a vertical aspect to the zone - and I don’t mean adding more stairs and levels that we have to climb up,

What if the walls of water periodically moved across the zone? Very slowly and in certain areas, so we could just swim up to places we needed to go (instead of trying to climb it and falling to our doom)
And then the city could have been a bigger jumble of ruins that we could swim our way around…making some parts inaccessible while the water was gone (Save for when flying was around)

Now see, why the hell can’t blizz think of things like this? That would have been a lot of fun.

I totally had higher expectations of it when they were talking about it. The Ruins of Vash’jir are certain bigger than anything in Nazjatar.

I love your idea about the water. I know Azshara is powerful but the area is far too stable. You would think she would enjoy toying with us by having random releases of water that we’d either have to avoid or that could serve as temporary pathways to hard to get to areas as well.

I have thalassophobia so underwater stuff can cause a lot of anxiety but I loved Vash’jir and it’s probably my favorite zone in the game. I was really hoping Nazjatar was going to be an underwater zone but instead we got the annoying zone we got that doesn’t really feel like it’s been underwater for thousands of years.

Vashj’ir has always gotten a bad rap. It’s gorgeous and vast and the storyline is pretty good. I’ve never understood why some people hate it so much.

(And I will always have a soft spot for it, because that’s where I got my beloved Medusoid Staff as a quest reward. )

You know, I hate water questing, the mechanics with melee alts especially, but you are right, Vash looks better in a lot of ways. I too was expecting…more I guess in the way of how Naz would look. I don’t hate the zone, except when I wasn’t flying and had to figure out where the trails were to get to a quest directly above me, but in some ways it is a bit…drab.

Maybe I’ll take a trip back to Vash soon and take Fabious around…hmmmm…
