Follow-up to the post “The race you want to play but haven’t”. Everyone’s got that one race they’re passionate about. Some of us have dozens of characters as the same race, and we’d just LOVE if more people came to appreciate it the way we did. Sell it to me! What makes the race you play so special to you, and why should we try it?
I don’t know how much there is to say about humans that hasn’t already been said. They’re dynamic and fluid, moving seamlessly from one expansion to the next with a story that’s easy to follow. They’re by and large a scrappy bunch with a good sense of humor, and despite what they’ve been through, they always bounce back. They make friends easily, and seem to be generally respected and welcome among the populace of other races. There are very few classes they can’t become, and they’re everywhere!
Let’s hear your sales pitch!

It’s quite simple really. You either embrace the Light or you are wrong!
In all serious thou. What’s not to like about Draeneis in general? They have horns, hooves, tails, are honorable, venerable, have spaceships and beam tech! Can call down the light to smite foes or heal allies, usually get along well with the other members of the alliance and have one of the best leaders! We are awesome! and can be almost every class as well! Embrace the light!

Draenei and Night Elves are more original than the other races. Play them.

Care to elaborate? Would love to hear the thought process!
Save for storylines, Humans, and Dwarves are standard fantasy lore characters, as are orcs and Blood/High Elves (though the elves have unique construction). Gnomes are basically Hobbits but intelligent instead of mundane. Tauren are minotaurs. Undead are of course just zombies.
Trolls, I’m going to correct myself, are actually pretty original, way different than most other fantasy trolls (even though they’re a total Caribbean stereotype, but I digress).
Draenei are quite a bit original, save for the fact that they are similar to tieflings. In fact, they’re kind of bizarro tieflings. Blue instead of red, ‘good’ instead of ‘evil’, alien instead of demonic.
Night Elves are a fair removal from the fantasy stereotype of elves. Yes, they’re still known nature-lovers and archers. That’s pretty much where it ends. Every theme for them is different from the typical fantasy fare, including the unique ear design. The closest relation to them is dark elves/drow, I find. Maybe that’s just me though.

Help I can’t stop making humans.
I just love, as stated in the OP, how flexible they are. Beyond that, though, their lore is pretty captivating for me to read—specifically the lore surrounding humans from Alterac. I play a Kul Tiran paladin as of right now, but I’m gearing up to boost an Alteraci ex-Knight, and lemme tell y’all that I absolutely ADORE the idea of fostering mistrust via making a character born of “the traitor kingdom.” Opinions vary, of course, but like… it’s such a compelling dynamic with humans from other kingdoms who have their own thoughts about Alterac.
Aaaaaaa. AAAAAAAAA. I love every kingdom for very different reasons but I don’t feel like writing a novel right now.

Pandaren characters are great to make for those that are just getting in to RP, I feel. They’re natural explorers and are curious about all sorts of things, can be played as many different classes, are the best looking furry race in the game if you can get past that (sorry worgen, 8.2 can’t come soon enough) and allow for all shades of RP to be done with them.
Plus, from my biased perspective, pandaren RP is so oversaturated with monks (which makes sense, but still) that playing one as any of the other six available classes can lead to thematics that you can effectively make your own, since there’s not many others that are doing so.

Big beards, brews, and battle-axes. What more do you need in a race? Dwarves are great.

Orcs, by far, are one of my favorite fantasy races across most renditions. Warcraft Orcs were really the first to earn my love for the race due to their backstory and attempts to claw their way back to previous ways of life. As said by good ol’ Parthunaax; “Is it better to be born good, or overcome your evil nature through great struggle?”.
The broad spectrum of Orcs and their clans also allow for some great nitpicking and character building after you’ve chosen the race to start. Though to be honest, it wasn’t my first RP character. That honor still belongs to my ancient druid, Silvarum, who’s rp name is/was Tokula Oakenhoof.

We got peace-pipes and totems, and that whole native-american thing going with nature loving and spiritualism, but with less tree-hugging than the nightelves.
We’re also huge, which works great for both being intimidating, or get that whole “looks scary but is a softy” thing going.
…you’ll probably get tired of milk related jokes after not long though.

Gnomes are the most underrated race in WoW.
They easily have the most you can do in terms of lore creation, as a lot of gnomish society is left up-in-the-air by Blizzard.
I would say gnomes have the most unique form of government. The only non-monarchical system on the main Alliance (non-Allied races) are Gnomes, Tushui Pandaren, and Night Elves.
A lot of people don’t think much of gnomes. But people who play them will often only play gnomes. And there’s a reason for that. Gnomes are unequaled in WoW. The closest equivalent are the goblins, who are basically the contrast of gnomes culture-wise.
Playing a gnome is unlike playing any other race. I also have coined the “gaggle of gnomes” effect. Once two gnome RPers show up in one spot, many more are soon to arrive. Whether they be alts of an onlooker, friends of one of the gnomes, or by mere coincidence. I have seen this phenomenom countless times, and I could never say the same for other races (anecdotally, of course) beside goblins.
