Shields should get enchants too and here's why

Prot pallies and warriors have abilities that utilize their shields to inflict damage. I feel as if it should be treated as an off hand and given an enchant to help out with stats.

Are any other tanks besides DH able to get an off-hand enchant? Blood DKs don’t cause 2H is the only option these days (and it was always subpar and non-competitive back when it WAS an option), not sure what Druids and Monks use for tanking.

Shields used to get them, but they just started hard baking the stats into the gear instead.

At one point, shield users could equip Spikes to the shield. Shield Spikes were made from the Blacksmithing profession(back when professions were relevant and useful).

Would be cool to see Spikes come back as well as maybe include another profession or two to buff shields. Maybe Engineering gadgets could be attached(think tazer or go-go-gadget spring-arm puncher). Also, give Enchanters a small enchant to buff shields.

If Blizz could balance it properly, shield using players could choose between Blacksmiths, Engineers or Enchanters(only one obviously).

I miss when we had cool things like Shield Spikes and Leg Armors, etc.

I want more enchants back cause I just like enchanting my gear. We have too few these days.

If they bring back off hand enchants, then all they need to do is give enchants on a 2h slightly better effects than on 1h to make up for the fact they they lose a 2nd enchant.

I would love to see another engineering specific shield. Remember the Force Reactive Disk from Molten core? Love that thing. It’s beautiful. And yes, it has a tazer/electrical counter attack effect. It’s amazing when paired with Thunderfury. Just so much nature damage flying everywhere.

But yeah. Offhand enchants would be great. I’d love to get shield spikes back. I’d love for a lot of things to come back. Enchanting could do an off hand stat boost, engineering could do some electrical/mechanical/explosive response to blocking, and black smithing could do shield spikes or shield reinforcement/damage reduction.

On the same note, temp weapon buffs would be great too. Bring back the weapon chain so you can’t be disarmed for 15/30 min for blacksmithing, enchanting has wizard oils, and engineering could turn a weapon into some kind of shock baton/hot iron.
