Question is I am pondering the usefulness of the shield enchant block % vs mithril spike vs to-heck-with-it go +7 stam.
For reference:
Slam the target with your shield, causing 225 to 235 damage, modified by your shield block value, and has a 50% chance of dispelling 1 magic effect on the target. Also causes a high amount of threat.
The question is. What is the modifier calculation for the block %?

That is a very good observation and question. Personally I prefer the shield spike for the extra threat gen especially in AOE pull situations but I’m curious about the answer to your question. I’m already at about 20% block chance so I’m not sure how much more single target damage 2% block would do on Shield Slam.

the 2% block chance does nothing to shield slam. Shield Slam gains damage off of shield value, which is increased by Strength as well as items that increase the Value of shield blocking.
The % chance to block will give you more avoidance (which increases survivability). If you are looking for threat you will want to use a spike.

I know im reviving an old dead post BUT. Has anyone found what the scaling is on shield slam for added block value?
Example:
The Immovable Object has 44 block value and an added 27 block value
Is that added block value included in the total listed at the top of the shield or is it 44 + 27.
Also how much damage does shield slam GAIN from the listed block values on the shield?
1 block value = 1 extra damage.
The block value at the top of the shield does NOT include any Increases block value stat your shield may have. So in your example its 44 + 27.

However you should note that higher block% = reduced need for using Shield Block to proc revenges = less rage wasted = more rage available for threat generation.

Tested myself using my warrior. I ran around Darnassus shield slamming squirrels for a few hours with different shields lol.
