I’m a fan of shields, and though I understand that the mmo genre has a trope wherein shields are only used for tanks. But I think it would very cool if pallies and warriors had a spec where they would be DPS but still use shields. They could increase their damage based on armor.
It would definitely break the mold and make wow a bit more unique in the mmo world

I’m surprised there’s an actual game with an enemy like that, I was playing FFII the other day and you can wield two shields in that game; you’re nearly invincible but also do little damage lol
I was hoping you were a mistweaver so I could tell myself that you Bob and weave
It gets better in Dark Souls 3.

I love enemy designs like this, that’s why I love DS, taking a trope and just flipping it around makes memorable enemies

We could use more games with that.
Sheilds historically had been used both offensively and defensively. It’s why their edges tends to be narrower then the rest of the sheilds body on some sheild types.
Some even are spiked to use offensively.
Some are only meant to be used as weapons even.

I’d certainly like it for the aesthetic. A lot of my D&D characters, and figures, have shields. It’s a common item most melee fighters would use. It’s not as if the game isn’t chock full of stat sticks. Any mage carrying a sword, shaman carrying a shield.

Monk’s barely even use weapons at all even, they are literally just stat sticks to them lol!

I really wish they had gone down the road of making this a full blow spec. Give then a Shield and Polearm, have Heroic Throw be a part of the rotation and have then literally spear the target. Get the whole Spartan vibe going.

Tbh, I created a Pali at one time because I thought rets could run around using a nice one hand and a shield. I was sad to find out they don’t
My Paladin used to do mass quantities of damage on the terraces around Black Temple with his shield spike. Demon Hunter apprentices, heh. That’s not me in the video but I used the technique.
I never saw the appeal of those games. That just looks comical.
The gif you saw is a couple of friends dicking around. It’s not an accurate representation of the series at all.
Sounds more like anti-cavalry, which would be odd in a game without actual cavalry.
That aside, I played glad stance, yet I want it to stay gone.
Let us put a spike on shields, like in Dark Souls.
