You know your video is of the highest quality when the teaser is just you underlining things and adding exclamation marks to a whiteboard.

Losing a bunch of phone game people (e.g. Hearthstone) who didn’t pay money anyway isn’t a big deal.

We don’t know how much WoW’s lost, do note this encompasses all ActiBlizzard titles, including CoD.

Their definition of “Better than expected” is probably in terms of overall revenue, which is probably true given how profitable MTX have been in most ActiBlizzard products.

In the context of WoW we don’t know (and may never know) because Blizzard doesn’t disclose quarterly sub counts anymore. If anything I wouldn’t be surprised if WoW is still on course for revenue due to things like Allied Races encouraging race changes and other items like the 6 month mount bundles.

Mmm yes. So serious and life altering. Not.

Imma go back to playing WoW now, as usual. Pretty much don’t care how many people are subscribed to WoW or any Blizz games - as long as they keep the game going for ME, I’m happy.

Maybe it was “better than expected” because they’ve been bleeding customers. They probably expected a lot less!

“Better than expected” can also mean that they didn’t lose as many as they might have. Churn - the tendency of players to move on to other games - is a very real force in the industry, and in a quarter when no Blizzard titles (and no Activision titles that I’m aware of) had new releases, it’s only to be expected that a slice of your population wanders off to play other things. If that slice is smaller than expected, that means people are more inclined to stick around - that’s a good thing.

Pretty sure their earnings per share was almost double of what their estimate was which is pretty significant.

Oh yay, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a post link a video from one of the more prominent rage/misinformation/misquote WoW youtubers that doesn’t even play the game, and hasn’t in some time.

Regardless of the state of WoW I’m going to haphazard a guess here and say that the % of that number that are WoW players is probably along the lines less than 1%.

Probably is, and subs are probably pretty high with the Classic stuff bringing old players back. WoW itself may not be on it’s best right now, but economically speaking, the game is doing quite well.

My long lost sister :facepunch:
