I would much rather have renown tied to the single character than only allow one character to get the rewards, like crests. Having account bound reputation rewards worked out well in DF combined with the bonus percent given.
This just feels worse.
I mean if you dont wanna use your alts thats fine, i dont see any problem with the rep looks like same as DF
I do want to use my alts, that is the problem. The rewards like crests are being taken from them.
Its totally different from DF.
In DF your characters got their own renown rewards. Now, only the character that triggers the renown gain gets that reward, essentially taking it away from your other alts or your main.
So the problem isn’t that shared renown is worse, the problem is resource scarcity that they didn’t account for. If they were only going to be giving one reward per account, they should have adjusted the amount of resources/currencies going into the game from other sources so you can still gear up alts at the same rate as DF, but they didn’t do that.

You get reduced crests charge when you go to upgrade. So it balances out.
What you suggest is bad.

But crests aren’t just rewarded to one of your characters, they all get the crests. Its actually been really nice for upgrading gear on alts
all of your characters can get the crests - just go talk to the renown quartermaster and there will be quests there for all of your toons.

You can just do weeklies on one character get em’ done, maybe zoom around killing rares, and some WQ’s and be good tho.

Oh crap, I didn’t even know that. This has to be fixed. That is literally game-killing. It makes alts dangerous to play on, as they can screw up your gear progression.
Your alt needs to be 80 to get the stuff, but all your characters can claim the crests.

They absolutely do. All of my characters were able to go to the renown quartermaster and complete a quest to get the crests and valorstone rewards

The changes to make it account-wide is an amazing change. There’s not much else to say about it. Your characters get access to the exact same things across all characters making it more reasonable to level alts and because of how they handled “duplicate” quests/reputation rewards it means that there’s still an incentive to do said activities as you just get access to more resources for said renown vendors.
There’s for all intents and purposes, no real downside to the system. But we’ll have to wait and see how it handles hostile factions once they make more and more older reputations backwards compatible.
Because the upgrades are character-specific. You have to participate in an activity to get access to the upgrades relevant to that activity. Later on in the expansion’s life cycle, we’ll most likely get vendors that allow us to trade resources like we have been able to do in previous expansion. But crests are likely to remain character specific since that way it there’s a way to progress your gear but also tie it to an incentive to get your character to engage in activities where said crests drop from.

You mean you cant run heroics and get crests ?
Yeah. You just have to hit 80 then talk to the renown quartermasters and they give you all the Rewards. My alts get a big chunk of crests and Valor Stones just for hitting 80 because I got Renown 9 on all of the factions.

Umm … all characters can claim the crest rewards … did you even bother to check the Renown vendor on an alt after claiming it on your main? The only rewards that are once per account are the currencies for buying cosmetic outfits.
