I met one of my best friends through a girl I knew in high school, who he started dating through WoW. He also met his now wife pugging healers in Nighthold. The game can certianly work its magic, sometimes.
One of my favorite memories is with this particular friend. In Cata neither of us were able to make consistent raid times for the first two tiers, but we always found a way to lead a pug with each other and have a good time. Heroic Ragnaros was less of a good time with pugs. We struggled with that fight for a lot longer than we would have liked; people not understanding splits and assignments, meteors steamrolling players, etc. I still have a macro for hammer assignments.
One night we spent entirely too long building, and rebuilding the raid, probably cycling through 3-4 full raid groups worth of people, and ultimately we stayed up until 4:00am trying to get this fight down. I was going to college from home at the time, so making any noise that late was very out of the question, and we were stuck trying to raid lead through text (I don’t think we even had Vent/Mumble for the rest of the group).
But that night the stars finally aligned, and we downed it. Both of us spamming each other with excited, overjoyed whispers that we finally did it. And then I had to quickly get off, not because it was late, but because I had a drawing assignment due in about five hours that wasn’t done yet. And maybe I’d get two hours of sleep once that was finished. My priorities at the time were fantastic.
That memory is one that I cherrish as a great time with one of my best friends, both of us being massively irresponsible for the sake of one fiery boi.
I loved to visit the Stormwind! It was a beautiful city, I went in the city and it was very beautiful, my dwarf was taller than gnomes and shorter than everybody else. There were fireworks weeks later for fourth of July!
My favourite memory is queuing up on my alt right this very moment to kill Sludgefist for the legendary it drops - and I’ve been in queue for 4 hours and 56 minutes. That’s my favourite time of my life.
My best memory was the first time I started pushing Heroic raid content and I never had a guild before so I always pugged, and achieved AOTC in 8.0 in Uldir. I was also leading the pugs, often times with macros for text so discord wasnt required and the first time I led a full pug to a full Heroic clear was pretty glorious. Since then I try to clear aotc when I am playing current patch, but I try to find a guild. For old time sake I will still sometimes lead/tank a pug just for the thrill of getting a bunch of randoms AOTC experience.
My favourite WoW memory is when I realized that playing the game didn’t trigger seizures. I had to stop playing Everquest because the seizures were so bad. My brother in law was visiting us and playing on his laptop. I was watching and out of habit, looking away and focusing on other things every few minutes. But then I realized that even if I didn’t, I didn’t feel the tell tale signs that a seizure was coming.
Gamers gotta game so my husband bought us 3 copies of the game and we, me, hubs and our son, all started playing together. Not one seizure in WoW in over 16 years!
I started playing in Legion, and when I was making my very first character I wanted to be a demon hunter SO bad, but you had to have another toon at level 70 first.
I ended up making a Death Knight so I could start leveling from 55 instead of 1. I ended up getting to 70 pretty quick on it and made my demon hunter. I played that DH for hours until I finally had to pass out. When I was logging off I said to myself well I don’t need this Death Knight anymore and deleted it So the game locked my DH LMAO I didn’t know about the restore character feature and had to level ANOTHER DK.
The reason this is a good memory is because while leveling that 2nd DK I fell in love with it and it’s my fav class now
Joining my friends guild they made and having a blast with them ever since and especially glad the motorcycle mount isn’t a 3 seater cause I would prob get driven off the cliffs along with the drivers wife.
what a fun and generous idea!! i don’t need the mount but i wanted to share my favorite moment with others who may understand why i thought this was so funny. i’m not sure if i can really capture the scene as i’d like to but i’ll try.
my ex-bf was the one who introduced me to wow. i started playing in mists of pandaria on one of his alternate accounts. when timeless isle was introduced, you probably remember there was always a huge crowd up across the bridge where huolon spawned. we were there quite often trying for the mount. one evening, he and i were just futzing about waiting for the spawn and the rare golganarr showed as spawning down below us. i remember saying something about wanting to jump down and kill it in hopes of getting the odd-polished stone that dropped but i didn’t wanna miss huolon either - i wanted my cake and i wanted to eat it too. ex-bf was on his hunter and proceeded to send his pet, grape ape the gorilla, down the side of the hill (for lack of better word, embankment perhaps?) to see if he could bring him up to where we were. firstly, let me say i really didn’t understand much about hunters or their pets as i was definitely a noob and had only played an elemental shaman - i didn’t really have a clue as to what he was actually trying to do at the time. secondly, he did say he didn’t really think grape ape would be able to get close enough to grab aggro, complete whim sorta thing and to not get my hopes up for a golgararr kill.
good ole’ grape ape didn’t fail though - he grabbed aggro and the ex-bf called him back up the embankment with golganarr in tow. no one in the very large group that had formed for huolon knew what was happening as typically, back then at least, everyone used to huddle against the opposite side, near a wall of sorts while waiting for the spawn. needless to say, there was much surprise when gigantic golganarr suddenly appeared in our houlon spawn space and let loose with its stomps, boulders etc. i remember a lot of yelling and "wtf??"s which made me hysterical as everyone was caught off guard. i’m sure there were some deaths, that thing had a lotta health (not sure if there was ever a nerf) but luckily the ordeal didn’t interfere with the spawn of huolon - golganarr went down about 5 min prior to. have no idea if this was “fixed” but it will always be my favorite memory in the game despite my relationship with this guy not working out. i swear he did it just to entertain me. also apologies for lack of capitals, bad grammar and poor punctuation. long live grape ape.
Im, not going to lie I was secretly hoping for an Alliance to win. Never the less thank you again so much for sharing your fond memory!
