I’ve been playing a very long time. I have a lot of fond memories from WoW - my first pink haired gnome Run for the Cure … raids on faction bosses (when they were actually difficult) … giving away gold to people, just for the heck of it…
One of my favorite cute memories though, was when I was leveling yet another femme dorf Paladin through WoD, I think. I was tanking, and I queued up for LFD. Got into Black Fathom Deeps.
Cool, no big deal, I think. I’ve run this dungeon a million times before. The thing is, none of the rest of my party had ever run it before. In fact, they were ALL new to WoW.
It ends up that we wipe (healer was learning, it’s all good), and the dps lived. While I herded the healer back to the dungeon itself and we ran back, the rest of the group decided to /sit down in a circle, around a campfire they lit.
When we made it back to them, I found them singing in /say, “Kumbaya”. When I asked if they were ready to head off, they said yeah and, “We were scared of going by ourselves and waited for you, so you could protect us.”
I will tank for groups like that any day of the week, no matter how many wipes we have.
