the “consequences” pre-crz were minimal.
crz didn’t stop jerks being jerks, it just means you’re more likely to encounter them because you’re coming across more players in the world.
If I said something factually inaccurate, feel free to jump in and point out where I am wrong.
But hey, its easier to change a discussion from the topic and words presented to the person you don’t like so you can blanket dismiss their point without ever addressing anything.
But hey, gotta get that new forum alt going so you can be edgy and not have your opinions traced back to your main characters. That would be awfully embarrassing.
A lot of people don’t seem to take very basic things into account of their statements.
If WoW was combined into megaservers, we’d have riots about people losing names they are attached to. Whereas with a connected server, that doesn’t happen.
In Lord of the Rings online they just gave people titles with their original servers when they merged. That way people got to keep their names. Blizzard could do this, I’m not a fan of Megaservers, but I think they need to do actual server mergers and get rid of the CRZ once and for all.
It is a horrible system for MMO, it kills communities, because it makes it tough to make connections with players that you most likely will never see again.
I get why they let this persist, because they don’t want the stigma of server mergers and the other part is probably a technical issue since they are probably using fewer actual servers to run the game now.
Any way you slice it, it is bad for the game. The people who defend it are a very small minority of players.
