As of today, collecting Dreamsurge Coalescence by flying through orbs in Thaldraszus or Valdrakken does not always advance the quest counter for Shaping the Dreamsurge. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t–even with orbs that are very similar in placement.
Edit: the green plant things have the same problem.

Yeah I noticed that after gathering about 30 but I only got 15 collected for the quest.

Yes. This is also happening to me. It seems to be more prevalent in Valdrakken proper. But out in Thaldrazsus, it’s a bit better.

I was going to mention that I have only ever experienced this issue with the Thaldraszus Dreamsurge while in Valdrakken. Despite it being considered a sub-zone of Thaldraszus, they just don’t count there. Haven’t seen an issue with them in the main zone.

Same issue here, dropping and picking up the quest doesn’t help either.

Hey, Blizz, remember this bug report from over a month ago? It’s still happening. Would appreciate it if you would take a look as it’s super frustrating to fly through a bunch of coalescence orbs and have none contribute towards the quest.

I experienced the same thing when in the main city in Valdrakken, but I think I actually ended up getting credit for them back, once I went closer to the quest giver and quartermaster for Dreamsurge.
I’m experiencing this bug, but people keep saying it happens “in Valdrakken”… problem is, I get it happening all over Thaldraszus, if inconsistently. Sometimes flying into the green clouds gives credit, sometimes not, but I’m always getting the dream dust into my inventory. Even some world quests I’ve done have given me the ten dust and still haven’t counted toward the weekly. I was absolutely definitely not in a raid group, although frankly this quest should be exempt from raid group restrictions since the quest is 100% solo whether you’re in a group or not.

For me it happens in both Valdrakken and Tyrhold. No credit at all.
Tyrhold was converted to its own subzone of Thaldraszus in 10.2 for some inexplicable reason (noted by seeing how you change General chat channels when flying into it) so it seems very likely that orbs in Tyrhold are now also afflicted with this bug. Probably some type of preparation for the likely upcoming “all races can be paladins” change that seems like an obvious continuation of the Tyr’s Guard questline.

Yeah I’m having the same issue, it seems to take 200 turn just get 100 count.

I have been having the same issue. Seems to stop counting if I move into Valdrakken and pick up some of the free-floating coalescence. Then, even if I leave Valdrakken to the outer zone of Thaldraszus, I do not get credit for free-floating coalescence.
I did discover that if I kill a creature in Thaldraszus zone that drops coalescence, though, it starts counting towards my quest again. Once it begins again, I will get credit for both kill loot and free-floating, as long as I don’t go back to Valdrakken.
I went back and forth between Valdrakken and Thaldraszus a couple times to test this, and the logic held for me: fly through some free-floating coalescence in Valdrakken, they stops counting towards quest. If I leave to Thaldraszus and fly throught free-floating Coalescense, it will not count towards quest. If kill a creature in Thaldraszus that drops coalescence, and I loot it, though, it starts counting towards the quest again, including free-floating coalescence (in Thaldraszus, not Valdrakken).
Test it and see if it works this way for any of you? Might’ve been a fluke, or might be a workaround until Blizz fixes the bug.
