so i have a question. my 4 forms are all on my mouse wheel. down up and shift down up. but i have them as spammable macros so i dont just pop right back out of form. my only issue with this is, i dont have a reliable way to come back out of boomkin form if i need to heal, and i dont want to use a really good bind on something goofy like that. how do you guys have this set up?
I use a razer naga and just have the normal abilities bound. You could add a cancelaura macro into something easy to hit.
Edit. Healing brings you out of all forms automatically if you aren’t using regrowth.
Yeah the only thing you might have to manually shift out of boomkin for is to wild charge another person. And I just have that set up like this:
/cast [help,nodead,form:4] Moonkin Form; [@mouseover,help,nodead][] Wild Charge
That way if I’m healing I can just mouseover to bounce to someone, and if I’m balance I can hit it normally for the disengage, or hard-target a friendly to shift out and jump to them.
Ctrl-c is set to a cancelform macro.
This^
Bind one heal to the upper bar so that it remains available regardless of what form you’re in.
This is something I’d suggest every druid do for all their forms tbh. Even as resto my main bar stays the same and all my bear/cat form abilities are on the secondary bottom left and right bars, so I can still heal fluidly and not have to use a /cancelaura macro all the time
With that being said my forms are all bound to the page forward/back buttons on my mouse (the thumb buttons basically), forward is travel form, shift+forward is cat, back is bear form, and when I go boomie for whatever reason I use tilde for moonkin form which doesn’t really make sense based on the other ones but it’s a bind I’ve use for my druid for like 10 years and I couldn’t get used to a different one. I use the scroll wheel for targeting my team and the enemy team in arenas
Edit; I just realized that moving everything to different bars requires kinda odd keybinds for feral/bear abilities. I use shift+q for swipe/thrash, shift+e for prowl, shift+r for take, z for shred and control+v for ferocious bite, shift+x for rip, etc. Although when I played feral in wod my binds were basically the same, berserk was shift+t, survival instincts was e, etc
Alt is the best modifier imo! I’m already spamming jump because everyone knows that jumping = higher dps! Alt is right beside it.
I’m a big fan of using others as my anchor point for reverse life grip when I need to gtfo. But at the beginning of BFA, I would swap to boomy a lot for that extra pew pew deeps. I had many hilarious “oops” moments and a few deaths related to mistakingly hitting disengage rather than jumping to safety. Idon’t mess with balance anymore. Boomy leap is dumb.
Yeah last night i reorganized everything so basically all my heals are outside of the main bar, so depending on what i need to hit i just hit it with no worries. Still need to set up a cancelaura macro of some kind because i have noticed while questing if i fly up to something i have to actually be on the ground to go into any other forms its quite frustrating
Boomy leap is amazing to quickly reposition, counter a big knockback, or quickly run out a debuff. It was pretty clutch for Mythic Fetid, and it’s fantastic for a fight like Ashvane where any downtime is disastrous, but stuff still has to be run out across the room.
Even for 5-man content, off the top of my head, Hard Mode Kujo with that ridiculous slow.
It’s not without risk of user error of course. My one DPS log on Heroic MOTHER we tried to one-room her with solo tank and healer and everyone else on burn. I promptly bounced backward during wind and lulz happened.
I dont use one of them there fancy mice.
F1: travel form
F2: moonkin form
F3: cat form
In moonkin i have:
F: regrowth
G: rejuvenation
H: swiftmend
Using any heal other than regrowth pops you out of moonkin automatically anyways, so you just have to shift back to it afterwards
My most memorable was Hadal Darkfathom in Seige. I went to charge behind the statue and instead went surfing on his wave of death.
I use these keybinds for each form-
Shift+ Q, W, E, S
Using Clique will give you an extra layer of keybinds.
So lets say (to keep it simple) You have the 1 key set to moonfire.
You can also setup Clique to make 1 your heal of choice when youre moused over a unit frame.
Casting a heal will automativally pull you out of shapeshift. So if youre in a party and doing your boomkin thing and for whatever reason you need to toss a heal. You just mouseover and heal.
