I have always had my shapeshifting bound to my mouse scroll wheel, which was extremely easy. Recently I am interested in getting into arenas for Shadowlands. I am learning to heal and am discovering the importance of targeting my party without clicking their frames. I believe mouse scroll wheel is the most intuitive way to target Party1/Party2, however I would need to rebind my shapeshifting keybinds. Would just like to get an idea of how my fellow druids have their shapeshifting keybound. Thanks.
That’s actually an interesting idea and I may use it for when I’m healing, thx!
I have the mouse with 12 buttons on the side so I can pretty easily use 1-12, shift +1-12, and ctrl+1-12 for 36 keybinds. Then I have the letters on the keyboard that are close to WASD (movement keys) as well (although some I use for UI buttons). All in all that makes for around 45 easy-to-reach keybinds.
Shift 1-2-3-4 so I have my when the sh… hit the fan keybind on my +20 keys mouse.
I keep mouse wheel button to actions that must be taken uppon game reaction (like self heals and CC breaking abilities, interupts.) and use the keys that I can apply pre-emptively on my keyboard.
Ctrl - F1-F5.
I have long fingers though.
Its like playing guitar for me, fingers flying everywhere across the keyboard and stuff just happens

Edit; It also depends what side panel I use on my mouse. One of them is set to F1-F7 keybinds
I use G, H, J (bear/cat/travel).
Why not just apply a modifier to the mouse wheel? I use
Shift + mousewheel forward = Cat
Shift + mousewheel back = Bear
Ctrl + mousewheel forward = Travel
I use the B key with modifiers and press it with my left thumb. It’s the key I use for any kind of mobility/shapeshift ability, such as Ghost Wolf for shaman and Roll for monks.
B: Moonkin Form
Shift-B: Cat Form. Also Q for Prowl and 1 for Dash, which is normally what I use to shift into cat form since I’m not feral.
Ctrl-B: Bear Form
I use mouse button 5 for Travel Form, which has always been my mount keybind.
I use F-keys
Depends. The default binds are ctrl+f1, 2, 3, etc. and these are fine with an appropriate mouse.
Right now I’m using a naga (buttons assigned to f keys) and that’s the only time I’ll ever use ctrl as a modifier for the first 3 buttons. I hate ctrl normally.
I’m a shift and alt gamer, shift as my focus modifier and alt for abilities that either aren’t targeted, Specific teammate support such as decurses and heals, or non combat abilities. So for shifts without a naga I usually go alt+1,2,3, etc. I actively try to avoid binding to mousewheel because I really like using it for action bar swapping
I would argue to keep your shapeshift where you have it, and use mouseover macros to heal. This allows you to stay on an enemy target for dps/cc and still heal your party.
However, I am NOT a pvp player, and I know they often do things differently than pve players.
Maybe look at cdew and others to see what they do.
i have mouse G600 and use G8=cat, G7=travel, < =bear
Are shift macro’s no longer a thing?
Technically yes, but shapeshifting is an actual spell in the spell book now, so you can place it in the action bar instead of it just being part of the stance bar.
My forms were bound to alt 1-4. Then I got a mouse with 4 buttons on the side so now my forms are tied to those.
