150 Million dollars is the budget plus the you to add marketing expenses and amounts of delays for this film, so the budget could be around to 155-225 Million dollars. The film has to make around 500 million dollars to break even at the box office. We need to see what is the drop off will be come this Sunday.

It definitely did better than I was expecting. The real test is will it make itâs money back but as long as itâs a good movie the audience wonât care. Iâll wait til it hits streaming and check it out.

with update so Shang Chi really needs to make 375M dollars to break even. Is it possible that this movie will able to break even? Maybe, but we need see what drop off from week 1 to week 2 will be.

It made more in 4 days than Black Widow did. Even if it doesnât earn more than budget + marketing expenses, itâs still successful considering the pandemic isnât over.
You canât really blame the pandemic anymore. Tickets for event concerts had been selling well. I saw Jeff Dunham few weeks ago and that arena was filled. Some of the fans had moved on from MCU because of burn out or turned off.

Larger movie theaters in my area (New England) are listing showings as âsold outâ with 25% capacity in a 400-500 seat room. You can absolutely blame pandemic.

Most theatres still have Covid policies that are in place and are a deterrent for many people that normally go to the theatres, especially since itâll be available to stream online next month.
MCU burnout? Both MCU movies already have top opening weekends of the year. Black widow has earned the most money so far this year, and itâs looking like Shang Chi will be at least be 2nd place, until the Eternals or Spider-man is released.
And despite people saying this since literally Avengers 1, it continues to be proven untrue. Just like your âGet woke Go brokeâ philosophy that CONTINUES to be proven wrong literally every other week.

Or I just pay attention seeing what Disney is doing to their brand. They pretty much butcher Star Wars and I wonât be surprise they will do the same with MCU.
Captain Marvel pretty much a woke film only reason it did so well because everyone think its link to Endgame that wasnât the case. you could skip that movie completely. Shang-Chi is the 3rd lowest opening weekend for MCU. it barely beat out 6th sense and it had its movie release day back in 1999 5 weeks before labor day weekend.
and that film flopped at the box office. No one cares about her. It was 5 years too late and they ruined Taskmaster.

While people are arguing over money here I just want to chime in and say I saw the movie last night and enjoyed it. For an origins movie from Marvel it was pretty solid compared to some of the others in the past. The choreography of the fight scenes was on point and while yes, some things could be expected it still had pleasant surprises. Itâs very much worth a watch.

Looking good for this movie. while this movie not showing strong internationally but here in US could be 1st movie to get pass 200M domestic. My source that prediction that this movie would end up making either 368M - 515M dollars total. I think 368M - 380M might be case this movie worst case they lost little bit of money at box office and make it up with blu-ray and rental. While this a good news for MCU but Eternals is different story.
