Shamen in shadowlands

How are shamen or even druids able to use powers in the maw? It is the realm of death. There are no elements to call on for power.

Not even the Shamen, but the shawomen and shachildren too

Well until Shaman’s connections to Spirit and Decay was chucked in the trash, we would have absolutely been able to make deals with the denizens of both those domains. Shamans would have been perfectly fine back in Vanilla, we’d just sub our Fire Ele for a Death one or some powerful ancestral spirits and BAM! Though in their current “ONLY the 4 Elements” form you could just equate what they’re doing to what Warlocks do. They just call upon contract Elementals rather than Demons.

As for Druids, I would assume they can do their thing for the same reason Priests and Paladins of every sect can still do theirs? That those Cosmological Forces aren’t completely absent even in the realms of Death?

I mean, there’s a whole NATURE based realm…so I don’t see why Druids would have any problem doing their thing.

I mean, it is a little weird that they are able to function normally as Life Domain Weilders within their opposite Cosmological Force, but meh … Light Users have been throwin around Light in the Void Stuff for ages. And honestly … Shamans SHOULD be just fine within the SLs if they were allowed full access again to Spirit and Decay. But, it is what it is aesthetically atm.

My headcannon is that since the First Ones made the place and we seem to have a connection to them, since we can activate their tech for some odd reason, we’re just special that way.

When thrall went to draenor in WOD he was drained from just using one spell because the elementals there were different and he had not built a relationship with them. In shadowlands he can’t wield power at all it seems. So I dont know why we would be able to.

Realistically speaking, the Death Knights should be walking gods right now, we’re in the place that created them. All the death going on should be empowering them big time.

The Elements are the Elements even here.

There are Fire Elemntals in the Maw.

But they would be in service to the jailer. So they would not aid us.

Thrall used his powers for the first time since Legion in Torghast, and in a pretty impressive way as well.

Oh. Haven’t gone that far yet.

Didn’t we have to fight a shaman venthyr?

And made of Stygia and Anima specifically. The Fire of the Shadowlands is the Hate-filled chunks of Soul and Anima!

Earth Elementals are seen in Bastion:

Funny how Fire and Earth are the only Elements that have Elementals in the Shadowlands.

So we have Ardenweald’s Nature Magics and the Shadowlands’ Earth, Water, Air and Fire Magics and only the Earth and Nature Magics(seen used by Spriggan) are the same as that inside the Great Dark Beyond!

Fire in the Shadowlands is Hate and both Air & Water in the Shadowlands is Anima.

Thrall didn’t use his power since legion, even during battle for azeroth he didn’t use his shaman powers.

Also Shamans commune with spirits and have the power of death and decay. They should be really strong in the shadowlands.

Unless I’m unaware of some major development, I’m fairly certain this isn’t true, and you mean to say “Blizzard has so far ignored these two elements and I’m upset that they won’t develop their connection to Shaman more.” I would agree with you there, and am deeply saddened that Decay is being ignored in Shadowlands, but this is a bold claim you’re making?

Not at all. Do you see any Shamanistic representation at all in SLs? Conceptually, Shamans and DKs have been the most in tune with the Death Domain in Lore. However, of the two, DKs have largely had an antagonistic relationship, while Shamans have had a far more varied and nuanced one. Yet, Shamans have no representation at all in the Land of the Dead. And this is probably an extension of Thrall’s Cata Green Jesus trend of attuning the class more closely to the Four Primal Elements.

Technically, Shamans are supposed to be spirit-talkers. That gain their power through communication with denizens of the 6 different internal material planes. FIre, Water, Earth, Air, Spirit, Decay. However, we’ve lost a lot of that spiritualism of the latter two in favor of flashy Elemental “Spirit” Magic. In a weird way, we went from Avatar Aang (the bridge between worlds) … to Korra (the use the Elements largely as a weapon).

So you’re saying that Blizzard has literally, officially retconned the existence of the Spirit and Decay elements and the Shamanistic connection to them? That’s what I’m questioning. Because as far as I know, that’s crazy talk.

Decay is the Green Liquid ravaging Maldraxxus… It is favored by the House of Plagues! Remember the Shadowlands is a set of nightmarish(we already saw how nightmarish Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald and Revendreth were) Realms of Death and Decay!

Spirit is the mystery Element and all indications seem to indicate that Spirit is the Life Energy of the Soul and the only part of the Soul seen in the Shadowlands that’s not Anima/Death is Stygia and Soul Ash!

Stygia and Soul Ash is the Spirit Energy in Shadowlands.

More of a soft-retcon. Frankly, Shamans have essentially been left in the wind for this death expansion. At least thus far. And its been years since they were meant to represent anything other than Elemental Users. There are fragments of Spirit and Decay leftover in some basic utility and combat mechanics, but those are legacies from their old vanilla days. Little else.
