I am against this add on because it could possibly used as a guild finder as well. Its an any kind of group finder.
This breaks the spirit of the game. A big part of what made the community great was the interpersonal communication between people. The relationships! This is a step toward the retail version of the game.
For those of you saying don’t use it or that it doesn’t affect you… this affects EVERYONE. It pulls from a pool of people on the same realm thus reducing communication where it needs to be - in the chat!

This existed in vanilla.
The author has stated it would stagger its intermittence in chat from like 1 min to 5 min intervals. Imagine haveing this automated add on spam this feature every min of every day, 365 days a year?

Yeah yeah, automated addons existed in Vanilla, are they in Classic ? No.
It’s not because addons existed in Vanilla that they have to be part of Classic.
As long as there is no auto-matchmaking or teleporting to the dungeon, I think I’m ok with it.
The main problem is LFG is that you queued up anonymously and got automatically paired with random people you didn’t know, and then got teleported to the dungeon.
Those were the QoL conveniences that caused the problem.

If it’s every 1 to 5 minutes, I can expect lots of spam.
I think you misrepresenting what I say and attacking me for it and then ghosting when you’re told you were wrong instead of admitting it is more harassment.
This isn’t an automated addon so your point is irrelevant.

Automating chat through an add on doesn’t count as “interpersonal communication”.
And there, of course, is none of that.

Point of Clarification
Okay, you guys are misunderstanding this thing. If you’re going to hate it, the first thing you should do is figure out what it is. Then, you can decide to hate it.
This addon is performing highly specialized chat management. You tell it what channel to sit in and it listens. When people say “LF1M Healer VC” the addon uses natural language parsing algorithms to translate this into metadata amounting to “a party consisting of one tank and three DPS is forming for Deadmines”, and adds that to a list that it can display in the UI.
The addon can also send messages to chat. When you are forming a group, you can tell it what dungeon you’re doing and then it will continuously monitor the status of your party and post updates to the chat channel periodically in natural language to alert other players and other instances of itself. Finally, when you want to join a group that your instance of the addon has listed, it will send a tell to the party leader asking for an invite.
This addon cannot and does not:
- start with players simply interested in a dungeon and put them together into a party by itself
- teleport anyone anywhere
- do anything across realms
- exclude people that don’t use the addon from participating in groups with which it is involved

I communicate exactly the same information whether I use the add on interface or a chat window(which of course makes sense as all the add on is doing is parsing and sending chat)
At the end of the day whether i see LFM XXX in chat or an add on window or whether i respond by whispering or clicking something in an add on window the exact same interpersonal information has been communicated.

Some addons like Decursive were here in Vanilla. They aren’t here in Classic because Blizzard aren’t allowing them.
So, it’s not because an LFG addon which was probably used by 5% of the playerbase existed in Vanilla that it have to exist in Classic.
It’s gonna affect the game and players behavior
Who cares? THIS addon doesn’t automate anything.
