when power word shield was put on a 5 second cooldown they broke the pvp talent trinity and made it so restrictive it’s completely useless
for some reason this has never needed to be fixed or removed but blizzard pruned useful synergistic talents like power word solace. I just dont understand why. If you dont want to press an extra button you had the option to take shield discipline.
From a PvP perspective, it was a terrible move to get rid of Power Word: Solace, but from a PvE perspective, I sort of understand why it was done?
My personal gripe with this is, if it felt like bloat to press in PvE… why not just fix the root of the problem and not make it feel like bloat? The way I understood it, back in previous expansions, Shield Discipline was the passive mana regen that you didn’t need to pay attention to or track. You use Power Word: Shield and you’d get that mana back eventually.
Power Word: Solace on the other hand, it dealt damage to benefit from Atonement and it’d restore more mana than Shield Discipline, you just had to keep up with using it off CD.
That was the trade off, you have the decision between one passive mana regen with no work required (with less mana regen’d) or one active mana regen that you’d need to use off CD (with more mana regen’d).
Why didn’t they just… I don’t know, buff the damage and increase the amount of mana it regen’d if it felt like bloat? Easy fix, don’t make it feel like bloat. 
I think what makes me so angry is just their reasoning of simplifying the rotation. YOU COULD SPEC INTO THE PASSIVE TALENT SHIELD DISCIPLINE IF YOU DONT WANT A BUTTON.
Its like the people who make decisions dont even play the game.
I’m so upset by this. It was a great ability to toss out on the move, I’d usually just string it on at the end of my penance casts. It feels wrong not having it now and I keep pressing the button it used to be mapped to accidentally only to remember it’s gone 
I can’t believe they’d take away player choice like this. I LOVED Solace, it was always a must pick talent for me no matter whether the other options were better or not
