Please blizzard can you take a look into adding this. It will be a huge quality of life for shamans. I know I’m on the fence in playing shaman but if this was added I would play Shaman 100%. I’m sure I am not the only one feeling this way.
Call of the Ancestors/Elements/Spirits coupled with Totemic Recall (Wrath abilities) seem to be keeping with other runes already accounted for as far as their origin. Perhaps these are just not yet known/disclosed/datamined?
Nice runes if they are to be included.
Would be amazing quality of life.
Recalling all totems in one GCD would greatly reduce the skill cap of shamans.
If they want to make SoD as easy as possible sure they can add it, but totem managements is an aspect that separates bad, from good, from great shamans.
GCD management is one of the hardests aspect of vanilla to truly master.
Why water the game down even more?
Tbh they’ve already watered down plenty of specs. All new tank specs are almost identical, you all get a taunt and a DMG reduction plus threat boost. Boomies having free mana cost wraths so they don’t need to worry about mana, flat DMG increases to most specs. Everything has more buttons to press including shaman. But they all had more free gcds to press them.
It’s more clunky than anything in all honesty. Being able to call all your totems at once just change the fact you have to change them through the fight anyways. It just reduces the clunkiness of having to create a macro to place all of them down. Even if they added totemic recall that would be huge
Totems go down 1 at a time in era - each totem cost a GCD - so it takes 6 seconds to set all 4 totems.
And they sit there until they expire or you set another totem of that element.
One of the major differences between vanilla and the expansions is that in vanilla every-single-GCD is ultra important and because of that small mistakes have big consequences, and so there is a lot to master.
Guess what? This is not era. Every class is getting QoL changes and buffs with runes.
I don’t really see how this would be the case. Recalling is only really used in PvE situations to stop totem pulls (which it still doesn’t if you forget to recall) and save a little mana when moving/replacing them. The skill involved in placing Grounding at the right time in PvP or weaving Grace/WF in PvE wouldn’t change, it would just save a couple GCD’s in between dungeon pulls.
When you greatly simplify a mechanic you reduce the skill cap.
They can do whatever they want, I am just voicing that fact because I think it is all these little ‘mechanics’ that you have to think about and master that actually make the game good.
Anyone can play a shaman in era - but few people can do so optimally. Add recall and instant drop of 4 totems, and now many more people will be much closer to mastering the class.
Kind of like how they gave prot pally a taunt? They greatly reduced the prot pally skill cap. Should they remove the taunt and extra threat they gain from runes?
If it were up to me, yes.
I think tank / zug paladins creates a big mess of balancing issues.
The prot / ret talent points have plenty of use for leveling and pvp - no need to make them core roles of the class at endgame.
While I agree that recall/insta drop would lower the skill cap on playing a shaman, I think adding this would work towards the glaring imbalance the alliance currently have over the horde. Lets face it the runes given to paladins have lowered the overall skill cap required by the alliance to play optimally.
It also affects game balance because recasting totems activates the spirit 5s mana regen cooldown. It also affects pvp because you could pre-cast totems and then for example run into the flag area and recall everything which gives you additional GCDs in fights which is a huge balancing thing.
TBH I wouldn’t really mind if they made totems easier to manage because shamans already have so many disadvantages compared to paladins, but it would have sweeping effects on game balance and should not be done haphazardly.
I mean I think they threw that all out the door when they gave paladin the ability to run around with tremor, crusader strike, divine storm, and instant exorcism. They dont even have to drop a totem for tremor lol. I’m sure blizzard can give shamans totemic recall as well as allowing them to drop all 4 at the same time. I think it will only be a minority of people who would not want it. Hence there is a classic era server for them
You’re playing the wrong game then. SoD isn’t for you.
Bro talking skill cap for vanilla wow like its a hard game ![]()
We are all 30-40 years old and boomer asf. there is no skill involved.
I actually agree.
I’m not demanding they do put these abilities in but overall it may benefit the Horde if they do as more people will be interested in playing shaman/Horde if the accessibility is increased.
The season is already loaded with “non-classic” power ups so this is par for the SoD course. But I believe they are going to be in just in a later phase when the amount of runes/slots available increases.
These are the Era forums and SoD discussions have been shoved here.
I will continue to state my views on what I think makes a good / bad game.
Whether I play try SoD is still to be decided, but I have been pretty clear that I think most of the changes are shallow, clowny, and overall reduce the depth of the game.
But I enjoy learning and being proven wrong so there’s good chance I’ll try it - at least for one toon.
And this is a post about SoD. There are no SoD forums. If your argument against every change is that nothing should be changed you’re going to have a lot of posts to make because every class is being changed astronomically.
