Far I can tell, Thrall is now effectively a warrior. There’s a moment where he touches the sand in the TWW trailer that kind of feels like he’s not totally without shaman capabilities but he’s not really showing them anymore and instead throwing his weapon away seems to be his new gimmick.
This is a great finding…It would seem even in the midst of all these elemental threats Thrall’s appearance is lacking his showing of the elements he commands. I hold positive the storytellers are not withholding Thrall’s powers without purpose.
It would be a grave oversight if they were. Now or at least once the War Within starts is the time to show his elemental might clashing with the primalists and others.
Let’s keep an eye on this one…
Honestly, just give me an Ascendance visual update or give us back the glyph. I abhor the cata model so much.
why or? We need both options. If we had the glyph I might actually be willing to make a build that uses ascendence. Regardless of what the ascendence model is updated to look like there is a high chance I’ll not be interested.
I mean, sure, but Blizzard has made it clear they’re being weird about glyphs.
I wonder if they are being weird about glyphs because they are waiting to see how players react to the rune system in SoD — in consideration for bringing something similar over into retail through Inscription.
The expansion that was all about giant elemental dragons and saw the return of the Firelord somehow became a druid focused expansion with barely a shaman in sight.
Thrall showing up again means absolutely nothing and shamans will likely continue to be ignored in the lore.
Honestly surprised that Smolderon even has a specific call out for shaman players.
Doom hammer lore states that it is a 2h weapon that it could be used as a 1h weapon. IIRC it was from the legion research we did on doom hammer.
Yes. But he has not always used it as a 2h. Doomhammer lore is extremely back and forth on how it’s been used. Inconsistent at best.
Exactly, Doomhammer’s sized has fluctuated throughout Warcraft’s history.
In most of the WC2 art is was an incredibly small weapon meant to be held in a single hand.
It also appeared as a 1-handed weapon in vanilla as well.
I’ve never doubted that Blizz has had 0 ideas on what they’ve actually wanted to do with Shaman as a class.
Seems like every narrative choice they take when touching upon shaman ends up hurting the actual perception of them and what they’re meant to be.
I mean, just look at their tier set designs historically. You can tell that Blizzard has had no idea on how to actually design anything around shaman, they seem to switch from that traditional animal-skin wearing shamans to some weird stylistic mishmash of meaningless design which doesn’t communicate ‘shaman’ at all constantly.
Just look at the tier 9 Shaman set, what were they even thinking with that.
Again this was in the text that we got from researching doom hammer in game. I do not remember the exact quote but it was along the lines of Doom Hammer a 2h weapon with such balance it could be used in a single hand.
And the lore may be out of wack but if it is in the game it is canon imo. And that is in the game.
Cool.
Its also in the game that its a 1H weapon. As we see it used as a 1H weapon constantly. In game, in various forms of work.
Now once again. I am not saying it hasnt been sometimes used as a 2hander. I am saying I disagreed with this statement.
I am saying he has not always using a 2H.
The light isn’t an end all be religious thing though lol. That’s ONE aspect and lane of it.
Well, Shamans at their very core are spiritualistic. We have spirit wolves and command other aspects of the otherworld.
Currently, we have more robe-like mail-tier gear which is indicative of our priest/mage-like associations. I think the storytellers only need to show Shamans’ true might via their connection with the elements they command.
We also have the ability to peer into the otherworld (spirits and such) and this should aid us in the coming War Within expansion. The world soul or entity that resides deep within the world may need the likes of shamans to save or communicate with it.
I think Thrall and Shamans will play a big part in all of this. It would be a huge surprise if they were not.
Nice cope i hope its true
Rejoice my fellow Enhancement Shamans…for our visuals have been updated!!
Here are some updates I have noticed:
Lava Lash (hot hand proc) - Updated to show red/black burning plumes around the character
Elemental Blast - Updated to show more distinctive elements (fire, frost, wind/air) the visual fire portion is similar to the updated Lava burst
Flurry (proc) - Updated visual to show more graphical wind surrounding the character
Ghost Wolf - Updated visual to show more graphical wind surrounding the character
Ascendance - Total visual update (new visual transformation)
===================================================================================================
Abilities I have noticed that have not been updated or can not be determined:
Ice Strike (not determined) – should be updated to have weapons turn into frost blades (frozen) over and push out frost graphic
Frost Shock (not updated) – current visual can be graphically enhanced to show more frost depth or detail chilling the target
Lightning Bolt (not updated – should be updated to show more realistic strikes or strands of lighting seen in real-life
Primordial Wave – (adapted last expansion) – should be increased in size - currently not noticeable during active encounters
My overall thought is that the updates are great, especially the Ascendance model – (it looks better in-game trust me) We sooooo needed it!! So thanks Blizzard and to be honest it really makes me want to use the talent now.
*I think these updates are a step in the right direction and I can only be positive that the different abilities will see the same treatment soon. *
Share your thoughts or items I may have left out from this list. Thanks! See ya in the game.
All I want is the Glyph of Ascendance from WoD.
Old Ascendance looked like a crispy turd. New Ascendance looks like a polished crispy turd. I can’t believe they kept the twilight cultist theme. We are not twilight cultists. Easy solution, bring back the awesome glyph.
Other than that, I want more ghost wolf options. Wolves and raptors don’t make any sense for non Orc/troll races. We should have a variety of spirit animal options available in the barbershop for customization.
New totems are also long overdue. My Tauren is using totem models from 2004. Draenei are the only race to receive updated totems for some reason. All other races have totem models from when they were added to the game or from cataclysm.
That was the case back during Wrath and Cata. But not anymore. We’re 5th most played class out of 13
