yeah Mechagnome Shaman for sure. Whatever story you need to make it happen, it should be a thing. Mechagnome and goblin allies to rivals, partnership to battleships, espionage of the spirits, whatever. Make a story, publish the pdf, and implement the class option.
Something something… Mixing of the races/cultures is bad… Something something.
How much grape juice can you add to orange juice before it is no longer orange juice? Same concept.
Yeah but sometimes Fruit Punch is just better
“X taught them to do it,” as a justification for race/class combinations is the entire reason monks have no class lore or identity beyond Pandaren history and kung fu/anime tropes. If Blizzard had restricted themselves to only giving the class to races they could craft a strong lore basis for the class and those races would all be all the richer for it.
We could have gotten an orcish clan that decided weapons were for wimps, and real warriors decapitate enemies with their bare hands. Dwarven tavern wenches who developed a martial art out of their bar brawling techniques. Forsaken apothecaries who discovered the existence and manipulation of chi through their plague experiments.
Instead, everybody can be monks because a panda taught them, and so “panda” is the only flavor the class has.
We still could have stuff like this, but Bliz seems very reluctant to even consider investing in the lore, even disregarding it, beyond chasing whatever the new shiny bit is.
Personally, I like to imagine that for a lot of the races that don’t have Shaman and Druids it isn’t so much as they lack the capacity to so much as their culture has been via various methods, might not even be malicious, suppressing the ability of their members to express such traits. Meanwhile we now have people who have been living amongst and exposed to other people.
“My dream? Look this is a private…”
“Please just how did it feel?” The night elf asked the human…
“What do you mean I’m not haunted? Of course, I am. I need this amulet to keep the spirits away.” They reached instinctively for the magical jewel as the voices grew stronger.
“No, you need to listen to the voices, because it isn’t just the spirits that are trying to get your attention. The elements themselves are calling to you.” The troll said his eyes at the same level as theirs.
I’m not a fan of the Druid class so I don’t really know much about their Lore/Culture elements.
Now Paladins in my opinion have very little cultural limits, by Lore they were literally Priests and Warriors, both universal classes, who cross trained. So really nothing is stopping the Orc Priests or Warriors from learning from each other and becoming Orc Paladins.
Ok but if you sell someone orange juice and give them fruit punch, you are asking for criticism. (and a lawsuit in the case of actual juice, not WoW) And if you hold a monopoly on juice, people are gonna get heated about it, but you just sit there and insist that people looking to buy orange juice should shut up and drink fruit punch.
Same goes the other way around though.
Blizzard promised us All Classes for All Races… literally half the reason I came back, the other was Dragonflight and them signaling they were moving past the faction wars. So, I’m here because I was promised All Classes for All Races.
So you’re quitting then? Cuz they already talking about ramping up faction friction. Good thing to, as that friction is the core of the series. Been a snorefest since the armistice (not treaty or alliance) was signed. The “peace” was always temporary.
They also stated that they are not working on any new class/race combos. I’m assuming due to allied races being the priority for that part of their team at the moment.
Well itss even lamer that they gave it up a long time ago and won’t just make more class + race combos available under the pretext that it had to make sense lore wise.
DF made the argument against many classes for shamans moot and ultimately shamanism from a lore standpoint…As long you meet the requirements you can 100 percent learn it.
Just because something “can” be done doesn’t mean it “should” be done. They can add MLP and Naruto crossover promotion items to the game, but most would understand that would be a bad idea.
At this point I personally do not care for the idea of keeping it restrained is completely outdated and silly. There are more important things.
/shrug
Ah yes, worldbuilding is such a silly and outdated concept for an rpg. Meanwhile half the playerbase would play the game like it’s CoD if it meant they did better dps.

WOW has pokemon standards, it’s great for WOW but the moment you step outside of it you realize how mediocre it is.
If this was Baldur’s Gate 3 I would absolutely care but it’s not. I see shamans of pretty much all races in DF is enough justification for me.
I dont think all that electricity would sit well with that half metal body of yours as a mechagnome.
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
