Patch 1.12 is after the 50% ap nerf and stealth 3 second internal cool down nerf to windfury, so anyone wishing to one shot or even be viable using windfury good luck.
I never feared windfury to begin with. It’s the elementals after they are geared and blast my paladin for a 2k lightning bolt which seemed like every single time they cast.
If you say so. In general most shamans in pvp were not geared elemental shamans. It’s too much of hassle to respec that frequently between resto for raiding.
And that’s why I love classic
The difference between pre-nerf WF, and post-nerf WF, on a 3.8 speed weapon, is under 200 damage per proc (non-crit, ignoring armor).
333 AP difference = 23.79 DPS times 3.8 speed = 90.38 damage per hit = 180.77 damage per proc.
It really isn’t that big a deal.
Also no chain proccing though.
Obviously you just raid as PvP spec and pretend like you’re full resto.
The multiprocs that people believe in never existed. There was a rare bug that reset your autoattack after a WF proc, but that was fixed by 1.4; very few people played with it and all the famous PVP videos were filmed after it was fixed.
The cooldown is mildly annoying to deal with, but we all dealt with it for most of Vanilla.
Okay? So Shaman won’t be running around 1 shotting people with arcanite reapers, who cares?
I just can’t imagine not going enhance. It’s so fun. Resto is just about the most boring spec in the entire game. Ele just feels like yet another caster, but with ehance, you feel like a swiss army knife. You can hit, you can cast, you can heal, you can buff, you can move fast, you can do it all.
3s internal cd sounds pretty damning. Could stormstrike proc wf, or only auto attacks?
Just every shaman that played enhance in vanilla.
Stormstrike could proc Windfury. So could bonus attacks from things like Hand of Justice or Ironfoe.
Since Stormstrike had such a long cooldown, if your initial auto procced WF, it was always worth it to wait for the CD before using Stormstrike.
Again - the cooldown was not new in the shaman nerfs and existed during the “glory days” when every major enhance PVP video was filmed.
WF not proccing off itself was added before 1.12 in vanilla.
Kinda the point of this thread.
I mean, enhancement was a meme spec in PvP anyways. Sure, in random PvP and against bad players, it seems broken. But against good opponents, and especially in organized PvP enhancement is pretty weak.
Gotta say after getting windfury I was pretty underwhelmed after my friends were going on about how it was this amazing ability.
Paladins will not get to reckbomb kill a world boss either. You get what you get. Any half decent shaman is going to be fine.
I think you mean any heavily geared shaman.
Our glory days are popping SP trinkets, Natural Alignment Crystal, and then chain lighting critting Alliance on the bridge for 3.5k in AV.
And yeah, Enhance Shamans in 1.12 are an absolute disaster. Nerfed WF AP and can’t chain proc. At least you can storm strike a target for your elemental shaman buddy to then nuke into oblivion with…
