Any vanilla/pserver shamans mind critiquing my talent selection for my Sham to be come Classic?
What I’m looking at doing is primarily PVE as a Restro (little to no PvP) and I would like to have a decent talent set up to be reliable in both dungeons and raids while at the same time not spend forever downing mobs while collecting mats.
Will be playing a Troll aswell.

IDK about farming talents but you’re definitely going to want to max out Improved Healing Wave for that sweet 0.5s casting time reduction.
I don’t think Clearcasting is worth it for farming. IMO it’d be better to farm gold doing DME jump runs or Strat Live sellables but I have no idea how resto shammies would farm their gold efficiently solo outside of herbing. I’d definitely go either full-on resto or 30/0/21 if I wanted to pvp, but you said you were mainly going to PVE.

I don’t really understand the 2/5 Imp Healing Wave over Imp Ankh. The 2/5 points spent seems to suggest you won’t be using that spell so why not put the points into something you would actually use?

The benefit of Ancestral Knowledge seems so tiny per point compared to the totall Mana pool you will have in a fight with consumables and other Mana regen factors.
So I would move those 5 points. 3 of them into Improved Healing Wave.
Check out Aryxymaraki’s vanilla shaman talent guide:

Based on that I would recommend a build more like this:

(I like their talent calculator better.)
This is assuming a bit more emphasis on your non-raiding gathering and such. You could put those 5 later-tier Elemental talent points right back in Ancestral Knowledge if you find yourself starved for mana, or Improved Healing Wave as Qklazsiqh pointed out.

No Mana Tide? Why not just go 30/0/21 then?
OP, I’d probably do something more like this: h ttps://classicdb.ch/?talent#hE0zZZxcItVeqo (11/0/40)
Some of the Resto points are up in the air, but I’d likely grab the +hit for sure. 3% hit is about all you need for farming mobs (4% needed for equal level enemies) so that will help a bunch honestly. You’ll probably be best served by just dropping Searing Totem, LB x3 (until it’s in melee range), Flame Shock, and melee with Flametongue on a fast 1h (dagger is ideal). You won’t have to drink a bunch and can just grind. Once you get some better gear you can probably skip the totem and most of the melee action. You can also drop the +hit talents when you get some DPS gear with +spell hit.
Thank you everyone for their input.
I’m noticing many of the proposed builds have 5/5 in healing focus, is this protection from casting delays as necessary in pve as it is in pvp? As in apart from aoe damage the tank should be the one taking the hits not the healer.
It is not as necessary in PVE as it is in PVP, but in the same way that food is not as necessary to survive as water is.
You need both, but you’ll survive longer without food than you will without water.
Definitely make sure to have 5/5 Improved Healing Wave as well, and if you want to be a dedicated PVE healer, Mana Tide is extremely valuable.
That’s interesting! You didn’t give Mana Tide Totem such praise in your talent guide, which is why I left it out of the build I offered.
Thanks again everyone for the input.
Here is an updated talent build that I’m thinking of with the comments above. As mentioned earlier, my intent is to be a dedicated Restro PVE sham that will be able to down mobs outside of instances without too much difficulty.

Well, like I said, it’s been a while since then and we’ve learned more things
I do think Mana Tide is a little overrated at times, but if your specific focus is exclusively raid healing, it’s very strong. It’s not so valuable for soloing or dungeon healing; it really hits its stride when it’s restoring mana to multiple healers.

You don’t need talents for that, you just need to collect some off set gear that has +spell damage. Spec for your main role (PvE Resto) and then just use gear to increase your damage. You can move some points to Ele if you want, but they aren’t gonna mean a whole lot in comparison to having a decent set of spell damage gear.
