New to playing Enhancement Shaman
Stromnstrike says it requires a melee weapon in off hand
I equipped a sword but cannotuse them yet - Level 11
I equipped heirloom dagger but still cannot use Stormstrike
I bought a one handed axe from the AH and still cannot user Stormstrike.
Any ideas what I need to equip to use it?

Mace, Axe, or Fist weapons are what you need. Sham can never use swords. Make sure you have one of these in BOTH slots. Yes I know it says offhand but it will not work if the main hand is not one as well.
Daggers are a 1h but are unique in how they function. Abilities that use them specifically say “need dagger” now which is just a rogue thing. Enhance Shaman, Fury warrior, Outlaw rogue, Frost DK, WW Monk all need a non dagger 1h to work for abilities.

No problem. It’s a holdover from the olden days when a bunch of melee could use daggers for weapons. When they revamped the classes some stuff didn’t get their tooltips ever updated.
Ahhh ok I was starting to question my own sanity (which is suspect anyway) LOL
Look at the weapon skills Enhancement shamans can use fist weapons, Maces, Axes Agility weapons. We use dual wield as 2h has not returned.
Resto/elemental can use staffs, maces, axes, daggers as long as they have intel.
