Shaman static field totem

I just noticed on the TWW talent calculator someone decided it was a great idea to increase the recast timer on static field totem from 60 seconds to 90 seconds…

Yea, just more reason to give the guy working on shamans the big middle finger. Honestly, are they making enhancement as bad as possible for pvp so they don’t have to balance it because nobody will be playing it?

Static Totem is absolutely insane, being able to force and maintain someone’s position is so underrated. The amount of cc and utility Shamans have is nasty.

Rsham is absolutely busted in arenas and Enhance is not bad, it’s just not easy and meta so it isn’t played. It’s like Feral.

I’ve been trying to find anything on this change. I feel like this nerf was ment for Resto but ended up effecting all 3 specs. Really think Blizzard should reconsider this nerf for Enhancement.

Just when they return doomwinds to a 60 sec cd too…

If DW is only gonna last 8 sec, at least give us the tools to try to get a few seconds of use out of it…

Good, now also increase Grounding Totem to 1 min CD and we might go somewhere
As compensation, Enhancement could get 50% cooldown reduction on those totems

While we’re at it, I suggest completely removing Totem of Wrath PvP talent or nerfing its uptime by making it proc only half the time, the point is to offset the free GCDs shamans get from not having to put it down manually

Seems justified.
It’s a crazy strong ability for such a low cooldown.
Unlike champion spear which has a 1.5min cooldown, it can have its’ cooldown reset, be repositioned, and enemies who enter the zone after the initial cast are tethered.
Only real downside is that it can be killed, but by then it’s typically already done its’ job.

did they buff this totem?

last night i got caught in it, tried to kill it with a moonfire but it only took like 1/4th of the totems hp away.

then i was instantly killed by a fotm ele and his dh partner before i could evn escape the totems radius

Note sure if you’re trying to be funny or if this is a serious response. But for the sake of elaborating on my initial point…

The buff lasts 8 seconds (if you ignore that the cast is ON GCD and eats the first gobal of that 8 sec right off the bat before you can do anything).

But w/o other tools like static field/cap totem to actually keep your target w/in range and stop them from ccing you and negating most of the duration of DW, you don’t necessarily “GET” much output from the buff.

The short duration is particularly bad for a mechanic like DW since it has to ramp up via forceful wind stacks which can take time. So, something as simple as a 45 second disarm basically negates almost all the value of this CD.

In shadowlands it at least lasted 12 seconds.

Would love to see doomwinds duration extended a bit, grant some kind of disarm protection, or be OFF GCD so you can combine it with sundering for a cap totem into DW/sundering to try to get some reasonable kind of CC go off.

Sucks that DW is on GCD since that means if we want to cover cap with sundering before DW then we have to waste sundering for our DW go which can itself proc WF on every target and ramp up forceful wind stacks to do good damage. Or we have to forgo using sundering to cover cap totem so we can use sundering after pressing DW. In which case we need some other way to stop people from running out of/killing cap totem (i.e., static field totem).

So, if we’re not gonna get a longer DW duration, or an instant stun, or DW off GCD so we can pair it with sundering to cover cap totem, then it would be nice if static field totem CD at least lined up with DW CD so we could at least use static field + cap totem to try to create an effective DW go.

As is, enhancement shaman cc kit is awful for creating our own gos and takes stuff like cap totem into sunder or static field into cap totem just to try to create a small stun window that every other class can just do automatically and for longer just by pressing a button (e.g., HOJ, stormbolt, leg sweep, asphyxiate, kidney shot, intimidation, mighty bash, etc.). Why is enhance the only melee spec w/o an instant stun AND w/o a mortal strike. It’s why we are always trash in 2s and need to be paired w/specific DPS partners in 3s to compensate for our glaring weaknesses.

If it’s going to be that awkward to land our stun (since it’s a 2 second delayed totem that can be killed or outranged), at least give us reasonable ways to set it up into DW in an effective manner that optimizes our ability to put out damage during its pathetically short duration.

If we aren’t going to get to pair static field w/doomwinds and cap totem, then give us something else to help us solo land kills in PvP. Particularly with rated BG blitz coming out. If health pools are huge relative to damage and if enhance lacks both CC and mortal wound effects, then how the hell are we supposed to kill anything 1v1 in blitz?
