Or the fantasy of being a Knight or other noble fantasy race is more appealing than living in a mud hut and being a troll, cow man, orc, undead.

Well, there’s also the fact that Pallies utterly trivialised BFD raid mechanics by using bubble to remove un-dispellable DoTs.

Objectively speaking in Vanilla vanilla paladins are better than shaman, if you’re strictly talking about clearing content in a PvE environment.

It’s a bit different in PvP in Vv cos of tremor and grounding and things dying before you run out of mana so currently I do think that shaman have a big advantage in both forms of the game.

You get cleanse at 42 which I would argue wins more fights.

You got tremor aura, sounds fair.

Long cast, dispellable, vulnerable to scare beast, hibernate and snares, cannot cast anything in ghost wolf.

Want to watch a Shaman hit me for half my HP in under 2-3 seconds?

How about run out of mana into a 30 second fight?
Ret Paladins can do some damage IF everything procs including crits.

My biggest issue isn’t with class design at its base, but with all the added extra utility some classes are getting without negative impacts Paladins seemed to get shafted with.
(Looking at Guarded by the Light, Rebuke, etc.)

Shaman having Earth shock has always been a thing. - Yes
Shaman having all shocks share a CD was also a thing and now it isn’t. - Ummm

Shaman having a totem that redirects one spell - Yes
Hell even a new totem that redirects one melee attack - Awesome
A new totem that gives permanent undispellable freedom from slows? - Ummm wow
Being able to place all four totems at once anywhere and one also slows everything near it?

Paladins have a short-duration stun that only works at 10 yards or less.
Maybe you forgot that most Paladins are Alliance (All of them in fact :face_with_hand_over_mouth:) Oh yeah most horde players including Shaman are orcs and resist most stuns inherently through a racial bonus. It also seems to have a very high baseline chance to resist anyways (Not sure if that’s a bug)

Purge being considered weaker than cleanse is laughable. Cleanse is a strong defensive spell that now lets us remove magic debuffs sure, but unless you’re Holy with a large mana pool you aren’t casting it very much.

Want to watch a Shaman utterly destroy a Paladin? Spam purge and kite them with Frost Shock and a Paladin can’t even dps let alone catch them. Both blessings and seal spells are instantly removed accounting for nearly all of their dps.

I’m fine being a melee-focused class it thematically fits with the core of what a Paladin is. (a Holy knight) Bubble is basically your only counterplay to really any debilitating scenario and it’s on a 5 minute CD. Yes someone being immune and hitting you for 10 seconds is annoying, but it’s really all they have besides an hour long CD full heal that drains all your mana.

My main issue is why do Shamans have so much extra added utility added to their runes? Paladin runes are basically mandatory things to even make them playable in any aspect besides healing.

Shaman was already just shy of being very competitive before SoD, but now they are the golden child.
